Our stay in the Lazy shag was great. The owner was lovely and very helpful. Ensuite bathrooms are excellent and there is easy to purchase unlimited wifi. A bit of a walk from town but it is right inbetween the town and supermarket which is useful. Unfortunately alot of travellers took advantage of the owners niceness and made the kitchen into a huge mess both nights we were there and were exceptionally loud. Aside from this the hostel was excellent.

I spent one night at Lazy Shag. It was almost nice. I don\'t have any complaints. Very cheap, cleanness and good location.

Not had any experience of the dorms but my private room was ok for the night. A bt pokey and utilitarian but clean & functional and reasonable value for money. The kitchen area looked tidy and well equiped and its in a quite location with fantastic views of the surrounding area from the deck. It's abit of a hike from "central" Kaikoura but no where is very far in this small seaside retreat.

Nice, spacious dorm rooms - extremely comfortable beds & v. quiet. Lovely view from dining area outdoors - the opportunity to swim with seals (organised at the hostel) was a brilliant bonus! Toasty warm log burner, nice atmosphere - would definitely stay here on a return visit to Kaikoura!
