The LightHouse is very close to both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches as well as Ipanema metro station. Hostelworld guests frequently say they'd stay here again, saying it's 'located in a great spot in Ipanema, close to nice restaurants and the beach [and] bus stops' and is 'small but perfect for getting to know the other guests and hanging out'. This is a cute, quiet place located within Ipanema, one of the most beautiful and well-known areas of Rio de Janeiro.
We're only three blocks from the beach, surrounded by a wealth of restaurants, shops and, of course, bars and clubs.
We have a gorgeous double room that can sleep up to four persons and an eight-bed mixed dormitory with air conditioning. You can watch cable TV and DVDs here.
Our friendly staff have unique local knowledge of nightlife and local surf spots. We can also organise city tours, favela tours, hang-gliding, boat tours, Tijuca Forest tours, a 24hr cab service and tickets and transfer to football matches.

This hostel was the best that I have stayed at in all my trips through South America. The staff is great! They are great people just to sit and chat with. The orientation they give you about the city of Rio de Janeiro is fantastic and makes you feel at ease in what many people would have you believe to be a very dangerous place. Best breakfast out of all the hostels as well. Lots of food, fruit and coffee. If you are going to Rio, you MUST stay here!!!
