Great stay at the Light House! The staff was super friendly and helpful; the other guests were fun to hang with; the location is awesome (3 blocks from the beach). Would highly recommend this hostel.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very small and intimate hostel meaning you get to know everyone. I'd particularly recommend it to someone travelling by themselves looking to make friends. It's more chilled out than other places with more of a "part atmosphere" but at the same time there's always someone who's looking for a night out. Only potential difficulty is the fact that there are two bathrooms to be shared between all 10 guests and staff, although this wasn't ever a problem. 10/10

When we arrived at the hostel we were very disappointed because it appeared unclean and when we arrived in our private room it was very dirty and very hot. I was disappointed there was no AC in the room as the website stated it had. However after a couple of days, a combination of the friendly staff, other guests and great location the hostel grew on us. However if i was to return to Rio I would find alternative accomodation, such as Bossa in Santa Teresa.

Great location with excellant staff. I want to come back to marry Karina:) Staff know the attractions really well and they make the time on your arrival to sit down and give an idea of what you would like to do. Some of the friendliest staff around. Just a small hostel, but everything just works.

I loved the Lighthouse! This is a cozy place, very clean and the staff is really nice and helpfull!!! ( all of them!!!) The good thing it's that the hostel is small so you get to know everyone!! Location is perfect for beach, restaurants, bars, and you have plenty of buses! If you are a girl, this is a safe area and there is security at night. You will also have a good sleep because it's not a big hostel, more like house so not too noisy! Nothing bad to say about it, the stay was perfect!

We were in the private room it's a great hostel, great atmosphere, great staff, the only bad thing I can say is that it can be a little noisy first thing in the morning.

The staff is the most knowledgeable and informative staff you will run across, they provide city maps and review all the points of interest with you when you check in. They also have filtered water, which saved me a lot of money on bottled water

Friendly, passionate staff and good location. Good place to meet fellow travellers. But they really need to do something about that kiwi flag at the front ;)

The Lighthouse was excellent! It is a small hostel and we had the amazing luck of meeting great people there immediately when we arrived. The staff is really really friendly and the location is great. Only have good things to say about the place!

The hostel is located in a really good neighborhood and has all the amenities nearby. Also really close to the Ipanema beach! The bathrooms are smaller than regular and require some adjustment to.

Really friendly hostel. Only 2 bedrooms so all guests tend to get to know each other quickly. Staff were helpful and kind and all the amenaties you could need. Much appreciated the air con. The location is perfect too, a couple of blocks from Ipanema beach, close to the metro into the centre, and shares a quiet courtyard away from the street with other hostels. Also a Kilo restaurant on the corner of the courtyard and really close to shops, bars, restaurants, banks. Great

This hostel is clean, quiet and well-located. Unfortunately, it is let down by its rules and the way they are implemented. For example, not only does the hostel charge guests to use both wifi and the desktop computer, it also insists on keying the wifi password directly into guests' phones / laptops to avoid the password being shared. Staff also refuse to let guests use the hostel phone for local calls. The hostel is located in a street full of other hostels, all of which seemed better.

Didn´t like that I couldn´t pay with my credit/debit card. Otherwise, the hostel was good. It has one dorm with 8 beds an air conditioning and two bathrooms. Staff was friendly and gave us map of Rio and places to see written on map.

This was a really nice place to stay. A quite place considering the location, in centre of Ipanema. Staff were helpfull in trying to get me booked on walking tour and with advice on places to go and see. Security guard is in entrance room/lounge througout the night- he was quick in telling anyone being noisy to keep quiet
