Enjoyed staying at The LightHouse. Cadu and Silvia was very friendly and helpful. It is a good place to start your stay in Rio because they give you all the information you will need for the rest of your trip. Good breakfast and supply of drinking water as well as reliable wireless internet access.

The staff are exceedingly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was adequate. The room was very quaint. All in all I would have stayed there again. Very very good location!

The best thing about this hostel is the staff, hands down. Nothing is too troublesome for them - they even started telling me off when I said things like 'Sorry to disturb you' and 'Thanks for your help!', because they say that is their job. Sylvia is a goddess and knows everything about Rio. Air conditioner in the 8 bed dorm is good, the cleaning lady Paula does a great job and the location in Ipanemas hostel row makes it really easy to meet other backpackers. And its 3 mins from the beach!!!

Loved staying at the Lighthouse! Silvia and all of the staff were amazing, and incredibly helpful and friendly. It's nice that it's so small, since with only 10 people in the whole place, you HAVE TO be friendly and get to know others.

We enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic place close to the beach, staff gave us a really helpful 20min introduction to Rio with sites, places to eat and events. Best kitchen we have used so far, was clean and loads of utensils. A water cooler so never had to buy bottled water which is great. The hostel is small with one dorm and one private room so everyone gets to know eachother and hangout. Safe neighborhood surrounded by other hostels, if only all hostels were this good.

I stayed here for 5 nights and it was my first hostel experience. I highly recommend it! The staff are so friendly, helpful and sincere in what they do. I really felt at home (very safe) and didn't want to leave. The location is perfect (especially for me a 5 min walk from ipanema beach was perfect). The other guests staying there were also great and even though it's small, you're in a courtyard with other hostels so you can meet other people. If I go back to rio I'll def go straight back there

Great hostel, really helpful staff. Only negative is that if you want to use wifi it´s R5 for accessfor your stay, but if you use the hostel computer it´s R5 an hour. Just seems a little unfair!

The staff are awesome, location is great, very safe, even in the midnight. Just two opinions: Must have a bigger locker, and more eletrical outlets in the room (would be perfect if is there eletrical outlets into the lockers). Recommended 100%.

AMAZING hostel!!!!! The safe is knowledgeable and really helpful with anything that you might need! The hostel is small but perfect for getting to know the other guests and hanging out. The environment is amazing, especially with the small street of so many other hostels right near by, there is always something going on. It is a five minute walk from the best location on the Ipanema beach, as well as the lagoon. As well, there are many restaurants and stores within a two minute walk. Clean too!!

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Sylvia is such a cool, kind, helpful person. Once you arrive to the hostel she gives you a very detailed information on places, how to get there, what are you aware of. Everything. The hostel is located in a great spot in Ipanema, close to nice restaurants and the beach, bus stops. I definitely would recommend this hostel to anyone!

The staff went above and beyond to make my stay very memorable!

We had an absolutely amazing time in Rio, thanks mostly to the lovely staff at the Lighthouse Hostel! Sylvia, Enrique and Sam were so friendly and welcoming they made us feel truly at home there. Thanks again for making our stay in Rio such a memorable one.

Very friendly and helpfull staff. The hostel is very clean, a proper breakfast is being served, the beds are good and the location is perfect. Highly recommended!

Brilliant location, in the heart of Ipanema. Close to everything, Station, Bus, Banks, Bars. Very friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast is top, with filter coffee, fresh fruit & the option of making toasted sandwiches. The dorm room is not over crowded, as it only has double bunks & not triple bunks. You can't go wrong!!

This hostel is the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Excellent location, excellent, enthusiastic, and helpful staff. Very clean, good free breakfast, excellent kitchen facilities, feels exactly like a home away from home. Thank you very much Lighthouse for making our stay in Rio even better :)
