Loved this place. Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, great non-touristy location within walking distance to a local market. Very nice staff. You get a voucher for a free beer upon check-in. The lockers are smaller, too small for your backpack, just be aware. I would definitely stay here again if I'm back in Phnom Penh.

Good price, short tuk tuk ride to the centre of town with all the sites. Nice bar and good food. Great place to meet others. Nice large dorm beds. No free towels or brekkie though. Staff are nice if a bit cheeky. Will help organise trips (e.g killing fields/ S21) and transport for you. Internet a bit patchy at times

Great bed sizes with air-conditioned dorms. The staff are amazing, prices are a bit more expensive than in outside restaurants but the food is good. Great place to meet people to do the killing fields with.

Dorm rooms were big and spacious and the bathrooms were clean. However the staff were very unhelpful. It took more than 30 minutes to check us in and show us to our rooms. We had booked two bunks in an 8-bed dorm and instead they offered us a shared small double bed in a ten bed dorm which slept two per bed. We took it reluctantly and asked for a second pillow which they never provided. They were useless and unhelpful when we asked for information about the city. Would not recommend this hostel.

My girlfriend and I loved this hostel! A fun budget-friendly find right in the middle of all of the Phnom Penh action. We didn't do much else in the city outside of the hostel because it was just a quick stopping point for us in between siem reap and Vietnam, but the mad monkey's friendly stuff, great bar and restaurant made it a worthwhile nights stay. Great value for your money. Also loved that they are a socially conscious hostel aiming to improve the lives and opportunities for their staff.

Everything about this place is good. I'd go with a 12 person dorm as the beds are bigger and the locker space is exponentially larger. Would recommend to everyone and absolutely would stay again

This was a great hostel, comfortable and clean, yet the location was a little far from most things we were doing. We wished we could have stayed longer at the Mad Monkey, but they only had availability for 1 night. The restaurant food is good, but they could use a little more training for the waitstaff. Sometimes they seemed to forget us and usually our order was wrong, but they kindly fixed it for us in the end with a smile. :)

Overall, our stay was good: brilliant breakfast, a great (but slightly expensive) bar, and a great experience meeting travellers. However the hostel did not inform us upon check in that they accepted only cash as payment, nor was there a sign to indicate so. We got in a bit of a fix as we had euros in cash, but the hostel did not want to accept euros; as we were settling our bill in the evening, we were forced to rush to a money changer that was closing and change our money. We had gone to the

Friendly and helpful staff, a chilled atmosphere and the food was good too. My only critisism is it's a little far out of the way.

Pretty nice hostel, you get a free beer upon check-in. The beds are comfy and the toilets clean. Especially liked the fact that they provide fair employment; make sure their employees get good wages and have a chance of a career rather than just a job. Only downside was that another guest was able to unlock the door to my private room one night, which felt a bit unsafe. Moved to a dorm later and never had any problems there.

Great hostel for meeting people. Has a bar in hostel which is a great way to meet new people. Place is clean and has small lockers for valuables. Staff are excellent! 1 or 2 dollar tuk tuk ride to most places.

I really liked this hostel! Staff are really hopefully, friendly and welcoming. I did a loop ending up back in Phnom Penh, so booked to stay again. All the staff remembered me and gave me a very warm re welcome! Beds are big and comfy, with your own plug sockets. Bathroom is clean with hot water. Small warning the first room I had was a 6 bed dorm - it had no windows and was next to the bar! Steer clear of C2, if you can? Otherwise it's a great stay :) Would definitely recommend - thanks monkey!

Lovely hostel, bad location. You basically have to get tuc tuc's everywhere which soon adds up. It is a safe area which is important in Phnom Penh.

Bad neighborhood for seeing Phnom Penh, isolated in a very posh area. Our bathroom had a funky smell (mould?) But great staff and common areas, good if you want to hang out sitt other backpackers.
