Mad Monkey is a fantastic hostel. With a restaurant downstairs with great food to the "rooftop" bar upstairs with a great vibe. It's a great place to meet people when you're a solo traveller. The staff are also super friendly and always having a laugh.

Great place

Very cool hostel, with great bar and events every night. Great for meeting other travellers. Good restaurant with lots of options. Bar and restaurant staff were lovely and really helpful, reception staff were rude and slow to help. Spent the whole time on their phones or talking to each other when we were trying to check in, plan forward travel etc. lovely rooms, clean and spacious. Loads of information about onward travel and things to do.

The food is amazing!!!! Although a bit on the pricy side. The staff is extremely friendly. The 6-bed dorm is really noisy because of the bar right next to it, but only until midnight. When I got there, the sink was clogged and the showerhead was broken but it was fixed within an hour when I told them about it. The beds are really large too which is nice!

This is the worst hostel I have stayed in over the years! It is too expensive for what it is (I stayed in better places for less). The resturant has european prices where in the neighbourhood restuarnts and hostels prices are much lower. You hear all the noise form the top bar and I don't buy the explonation that it is backpacker hostel as in other palces rooms are quiet. We were asked to pay more for a quiet room and only because our shower was leaking we changed it without paying more.

A party hostel but with good amenities. Great A/C and wide beds. Staff were friendly and funny. Lacked the pool and outdoor bar found at other hostels in Phnom Penh. Close to S21 but not many other things.

Staff and food is what makes this place. People are super chill, give out free drinks and do everything they can to make sure you're having a good time. Beds aren't the most comfortable, and the facilities are so so but food is unreal and it's worth the stay. If you go give a shout to Sammy and Vathana for me!

Air conditioning wasn't very powerful making it difficult to sleep at night, far away from the main area of Phnom Penh

Should use a whiteboard at reception so that solo travelers join other people to share the daily tours.

Great hostel, great staff, our room was clean and basic but all we needed. Loved the atmosphere and rooftop bar, easy to make friends. Best thing was the food!! Loved it.

A good value for your money... The hostel is well located, staff is very nice (specially the cleaning and bar staff)... The prices at the restaurant are a little bit expensive, but overall you get a good service in this hostel. Rooms are very clean! :)

Nice big airy mixed dorms, good security, the bar/restaurant opposite has a good atmosphere and night life but nothing else around this area or much to do. Staff were not helpful either and no free breakfasts

I loved it here! The staff are so friendly and always willing to have a chat with you. The sky top bar is always packed and has a brilliant atmosphere. Each bed has a spacious locker which is great however do bring your own lock.

Super helpful hostel-they have everything you need! Also, they have an altruistic vision and work alongside a lot of good causes in the community. Would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed in a private room and it was really value for money. The area around the hostel seems to be one of the safer places in Phnom Penh with many international schools and expat bars around the area. The only downside is that the toilet has an opening to the streets or gutter which smelled. Otherwise great place to stay.

Would definitely recommend for backpackers. Very easy to meet new people. Even though the nightlife in phnom penh is not that good, the bar located inside the hostel is a fantastic place to start the night out. The restaurant has amazing food, but is quite expensive.

Had a great stay here, staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with booking tours or anything around the city. Have a good bar upstairs and restaurant downstairs. Only disadvantage was there were no key cards needed to get into the rooms, so was worried someone not staying at the hostel might enter.

Booked a ten bed dorm and was put into a 20 bed dorm right next to the rooftop bar so it was the quietest place! No key to lock dorm room and the door didn't shut properly, but there were really large lockers under the bed. Food is really tasty and good sized portions but bit pricey for backpackers!

Mad monkey was fantastic, very clean and helpful staff. We were in a dorm by the bar - not a great location so ask for another room. It was loud and hard to nap in if you'd like some rest in the evening before going out or want to sleep before midnight. We had shitty dorm mates but that's not the hostels fault. Good value for money, I'd recommend to anyone.
