Pretty good hostel except for the fact that in the dorm upstairs next to the bar there are no windows!
Had a great time here. Great way to meet people. Staff very helpful. Clean rooms
An extremely fun and vibrant hostel. All of the staff are fantastic people and incredibly kind. The bar upstairs is great, though it closes quite early (11 PM). Overall, a pleasant experience.
Great hostel for groups and solo travellers :)
Great hostel. Clean and with good staff. It has a good bar and restaurant and its easy to meet people. Seems slightly out of the way. The doors to the toilet wouldn't shut which made for some interesting moments. Recommend staying here!
Great party hostel with a lively rooftop. The heavy guy on reception was a bit weird/eccentric and made people uneasy. Also, he told us a specific coach would bring us on our journey and even showed us a picture; a mini-van brought us.
This is good place to stay. There are not too many options in Phnom Penh. The staff are excellent and the food in the restaurant is very good.
Mad monkey was the best hostel I stayed at in Cambodia. The staff made my stay an enjoyable experience.
The restaurant staff were smiling and enthusiastic every day. The food was wonderful. The room was spotless. There was no street noise and it was an easy Tuk Tuk ride to the riverfront and other points of interest. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the philosophy of what the owners and staff are doing for the area and local people.
Really enjoyed stay at this hostel. Dorm was very clean with air con and ensuite shower. Shame need own padlock for lockers. Great rooftop bar with nightly pub crawl. Food very good in restaraunt downstairs. Handy to have ATM on site too.
Great hostel, great local staff, meet loads of people - recommended if you're in Phnom Penh.
The Mad Monkey in Phnom Penh was a refreshing stop on our tour of Southeast Asia. We stayed in a double bed private ensuite for two nights. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. It had a good air conditioner and a rotating fan. The Mad Monkey also has a great restaurant and a sunset bar on the rooftop. The food and drinks are reasonable. However, since Cambodians prefer US Dollars, it can be slightly pricier than local cuisine. The staff at the hostel was awesome!
Overall a good hostel. Located within walking distance to many major attractions, rooms were clean, wifi was good and staff tried to be helpful. There was some confusion about bus schedules as I got a different answer with each person I asked at the desk. Just be sure to be very clear in explaining what you want, and double check on the internet when it comes to bus schedules as they will schedule you with the carriersth ey commonly use vs checking all companies to find the best deal and time.
This hostel wasn't for me - I moved to another hostel after one night. Found the staff to be quite dismissive on arrival. Bedroom was right next to the bar and the door to the room wouldn't close properly. Staff did offer to move me to another room but the loud party atmosphere just wasn't my thing. However if that is your thing, I'm sure this place would be great for you.
I have nothing bad to say about mad monkey at all. It's not very close to many attractions but only a short tuktuk tide away. It's in a safe part of the city. The food in the restaurant is delicious, they have good breakfasts, and a big selection of Western and Khmer food. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The dorms are cleaned and beds made daily. The bar upstairs has good prices too. I'd recommend mad monkey to everyone :)
Food was lovely in the restaurant and the whole place was very clean and tidy, staff helpful when we needed to sort out visas for vietnam and arrange trips in phnom pen, would defo stay again
One of the best party hostels in Phnom Penh! It's a really social and friendly hostel. The rooftop bar is great, and the hostel organizes a lot of fun activities and outings at night. The restaurant is really good too, a bit pricy but the food is worth it! Location isn't the most central, that's the only thing letting it down. Having said that, it's in a very safe and well to do neighbourhood.
Cool place to stay, good atmosphere and rooms very nice. Food was bit pricey in restaurant. Would stay again.
We had a lovely stay at Mad Monkey. Staff are very helpful. Sing Lee, Sothea, Lina , Dary made our stay comfy.. The location is slightly far from the city center but tuk-tuk drivers in front of the hostel will take you there in 5 minutes which is 2 bucks for one way is not bad. The restaurant is pretty good and prices are reasonable. Top floor bar is quite nice and airy. We quite loved the athmosphere in this place. Very laid back and secure, thumbs up for Mad Monkey.
This is a great spot to relax and meet other backpackers, and the bar upstairs with nightly promotions is a great spot to kick off the night. Really enjoyed my stay here
