Awesome hostel, went here 4 times in a month. Staff are super friendly, great bar, great rooms
A good hostel. The place doesn't have a common room, but a restaurant, so many people end up sitting in the groups they came in or alone. Nice and comfy beds. The bathroom was a bit on the smaller size, but it's ok. There is also only one shower pr dorm room (at least the small ones) and that is located where the shower is. The restaurant serves good food, reasonably priced, although you can find cheaper food on the street. The roof top bar serves really cheap beers and drinks.
Great hostel - good location with shops/bars nearby. Staff very friendly
Helpful Staff and good location. We arrived there while it was raining so hard and the streets were already flooded. Nevertheless, they helped us get in.
Great, friendly, helpful staff! I always needed something and they always found a solution with a smile. Sunset bar is definitiely the a place to meet people and hang out. The hostel is located not exactly in the center but it's very close and for the better cuz center of Phnom Penh is busy. crowded, dirty and not safe. Mad Monkey is lovated on a nice street with shops and restaurants nearby so everything is close anyway
All in all not a bad place to stay. The restaurant and rooftop bar were both very social and the staff were very friendly. The bar shuts down before midnight so you can still catch a good snooze. Also a decent spa right next door for a good Khmer massage. Some of the sights are a little far for walking but there's tons of tuk tuk's around and they're usually pretty cheap. Wi-fi connection was a little spotty in the room but was good elsewhere.
Lovely hostel with a very lively atmosphere. Great place to meet people. The hostel bar is great to have some drinks after a day exploring the city. The food on offer is good too.
The staff at Mad Monkey are always a joy. The best hostels to stay in in Cambodia!
Nice clean hostel with good bar area. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Can be noisy if you are trying to get an early night but the bar closes at 12 and it quiets down quickly after.
Really enjoyed my stay here! I stayed in the Baboon room, which had two nice bathrooms between the eight of us. Really social place so its very easy to meet people as a solo traveller. Bar is great but it closes way too early. The staff is simply the sweetest and go out of their way for you. But I would avoid the tuktuks outside the hostel because they overcharge a lot. Would stay again! Cheers.
Perfectly located in Phnom Penh, very nice and clean rooms. The staff is so nice. And food is very good at the restaurant. I definitely recommend this place and this is where i'd go if i were to go back to the city.

This hostel was good. In terms of location it's located between the river/pub area and the genocide museum. So if sightseeing is more important than being in a busy area for night life then this is a good choice (good cheap massage place nearby too). Staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived at 1am and there was some confusion about our booking but it was sorted out. Food was good and cheap - a nice mix of Western and Khmer dishes on offer (the amok was delicious).
Spent a single night here in PP. Very well run hostel with local staff. Very friendly, great atmosphere, good restaurant, bar and facilities. Unfortunately a bit out of the central districts. I chose this hostel due to its close proximity to Tuol Sleng and my limited time in the city. Had a twin private room for myself as a solo traveller and found it comfortable and secure. Would recommend to my friends.
Great hostel with pretty much all the hostel amenities you want. Not quite as sociable as the Seam Reap Monkey, but still a great place to meet people, especially if you're traveling alone. It's 30 mins or so to walk top the main tourist stuff in town, or a shorter tuk tuk ride... Staff are friendly and helpful. You could definitely find cheaper, but Mad Monkey is still good value.
highly recommended. strategically located, near to several key places (if u dont mind to walk 3-4km).. 2 thumbs up!
Just stopped in for one night and stayed in a private room (three of us)-- good value for very acceptable accommodations.
I've stayed at several hostels in Phnom Penh and this is the best one in my opinion. There are other cheaper options but at this place everything is to a high standard and done just right. The staff are excellent too.
Really clean dorms and bathrooms, huge beds and good restaurant/bar. Dont think location is the best for night market etc but plenty tuktuks to take you to killing fields/s21 etc.
Great staff, Awesome bars, Quick affordable restaurant and brekkie. Our room was even cleaner than I could have expected and the bathrooms as well. Our room had a balcony, working fan, and AirCon. Beds were HUGE and made up each day. Overall, very satisfied.
