It`s a great place for party seekers, the bar is amazing. But the rooms are poorly equipped, I guess it`s normal for a hostel.

The staff is helpful and friendly, and it was easy and cheap to get around Phenom Phen by tuk tuk. The rooms are a bit grungy and it is a bit loud in the evenings. I would say that if you are looking to meet other travelers and socialize than the Mad Monkey is perfect, if you are looking for a place to relax after your days out than I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Great hostel - friendly staff, clean rooms, good atmosphere - great bar at the top to hang out and meet other travelers. Only negative thing - food is very pricy!

Pretty good hostel. Fun bar but it closes really early. Could be a little cleaner. Staff is somewhat disorganized and tried fairly hard to get me to pay for one of my meals a second time.

We got to the Mad Monkey whilst they were fixing up the kitchen, and the noise was very unpleasant though by now it will be over. We had been travelling from Siem Reap where we stayed at the amazing Siem Reap Rooms so the Mad Monkey was a little disappointing. Staff straight up unfriendly and not too helpful. We also had a little security accident for which they waived our room fee - which was nice of them. For non-drunken youth in a big place like Phnom Phen there are better places to stay.

Our triple room with ensuite bathroom was nicely tucked away from the noise, but still close to the lounge area. Not in the busiest part of town but still many restaurants in the area. About a 20-30 minute walk to the river. It would have been nice if the hostel's restaurant stayed open later, but just be sure to eat before 9 if you like the menu!

Some of the staff were friendlier than others. They could arrange more 'communal' activities to help make the hostel feel a bit more social. A couple of computers in the communal area would also not go a miss! Beds in dorm rooms were spacious and really comfy. The private double rooms are ok, but you can stay in a hotel for the same price and have use of the pool etc.

the mad monkey is in a good spot (walking or tuk tuk distance to all major attractions, restaurants, and bars) and i felt safe there. the rooftop bar is fun and cheap, the staff was nice, and the restaurant within the hostel is pretty decent with good prices. the bedrooms and bathroom are clean, the AC was always working, and the wifi connection was strong. the only bad thing was that when i stayed there they were doing construction on an adjacent room, so it was kind of loud in the afternoons.

I would stay here again. It was a nice area, had a lively bar and big lockers under sturdy beds. The food is expensive, although they try to justify it by the standard of hygiene & food ($2.50 for toast with local jam!) Generally you pay more for convenience of being able to organise things via the hostel. The toilets were not great, but clean enough. There was some confusion over a bus I booked with them but it got sorted. I booked in to a smaller dorm but got put in a much larger dorm.

The hostel is in a good location, easy to get around in phnom penh, there is a really nice caffe where have breakfast 2 minutes away. As we are mature travellers we found it a it noisy after 10 pm, but was our choice there. Definitely a good place to stay for young people between 16 to 25. Staff were always helpful except from the day when we left, we where waiting for the coach for 45 minutes and nobady knows what was goign on. Overall our stay there was great and good.
