The hostel is in a good location, easy to get around in phnom penh, there is a really nice caffe where have breakfast 2 minutes away. As we are mature travellers we found it a it noisy after 10 pm, but was our choice there. Definitely a good place to stay for young people between 16 to 25. Staff were always helpful except from the day when we left, we where waiting for the coach for 45 minutes and nobady knows what was goign on. Overall our stay there was great and good.

Very friendly staff, who were very helpful when it came to arranging day trips. The food was very good also, the only fault was the maintenance going on during the day.

I stayed in the largest dorm I think like 10 people for $7 and i really liked it. The bed was nice and clean and the pillow was so comfortable, this is so important!! The towel was really clean, no stains. The people were really friendly and though I never had the chance to eat their food it looked really good!! The location isn't too bad, a quick tuk tuk ride takes you to riverfront bu there is a good coffee shop close by and good restaurants.

Only downside was were placed in a room right above the main bar which made it impossible to nap/sleep anytime outside of 11pm-8am. Also room was pretty dirty but I think it was just that one, others looked clean.

Nice hostel with very friendly staff. It is a bit too self-contained. It's too set up to eat, drink, and just stay there, rather than get out and go see the city.

It wasn't bad but out of all the hostels i've stayed in recently it felt like a curitz egg on the outside great, and great premise I admire their ethical ambitions but my stay felt slightly flat and the expensive (but decent) food and transport to tourists locations meant i spent more than i intended.

Great hostel, the staff are brilliant! The bar was a lot quieter than we expected which was a shame. The food there is really good but be prepared to wait a long long time, we had lunch and had to wait 50 minutes for a sandwich, bear in mind we were the only people in there! Hostel is a bit far out from the river front. Our room was a bit dingy and the sheets were dirty. Overall though, it's a really cool place and we would recommend it!

It's kind of a walk to the Riverside area but there are some really nice things near the hostel. Some good bars like Top Banana close by and also some good cafes and restaurants. The hostel itself has really delicious food but it's a bit expensive. The staff here are super nice and adorable, and the rooms are decent (I stayed in the 20-something bed dorm). There are lockers and towels provided so what more do you really need?

I am normally a "hotel" person, but The Mad Monkey was great and if I'm ever back in Phnom Penh, I will stay there again. The staff were wonderful - very energetic, friendly, and helpful.

While staff were very friendly and generally helpful there were a few frustrations during our stay that could have been avoided. We booked 2 dorm beds for our second night but were later informed that only 1 was available. We ended up having to share a single bed. Also, we were never informed that the royal palace was closed during our stay and the staff still tried to sell us a tour there. I would expect a hostel to be honest at least and ideally inform guests of important cultural events.

I stayed here for three nights in Feb 2013. Had a great time. The English guys that run the place seemed very decent - go on the boat cruise they run if you get the chance. Beautiful sights of the city from the river and it was a great, easy way to meet people if you are travelling solo like myself. The staff at the hostel were great. Friendly, efficient and knowledgable.

I loved my stay in the Mad Monkey the staff is simply amazing, they are helpful, friendly and always smile! The room was big and very clean and the rooftop bar is the perfect place to relax after a tiring day! The cocktails taste great and for the party people the staff recommends good places! Not to forget is that they have a restaurant which serves really great food! My tip try the coronation chicken is imply loved it! Thanks to Nei, Borom, Makara, Sraelia, Tina and Truula. Sorry for spelling!

Truly the only thing positive about The Mad Monkey is the location. It is smack on Sivatha Avenue which runs right in the middle of the city, so everything was extremely convenient. Our room was very dirty, particularly the bathroom. We asked the staff 3 or 4 times to clean it (we stayed there for 5 nights) before they actually cleaned it. Sort of. Our A/C was malfunctioning, and the power went out for a day so it was very hot. The staff was generally unhelpful, but friendly nonetheless.
