The staff were very friendly, the dorm rooms were clean with big beds and had a very sociable atmosphere which made the stay!

Really great hostel. All the reviews will echo this. The food is a bit pricier, but like everyone mentioned at least you know you're getting a decent and safe meal. Great staff, super clean.

Located in a nice safe residential area. A short tuk tuk ride to the major tourist destinations, such as Central Market and the riverside. Staff originally lost our booking but had another room available and were able to accommodate us. Room was always clean. Very sweet and friendly staff, good common areas. Cafe had great food and smoothies but it was expensive by Cambodian standards. Would definitely recommend.

This hostel is awesome, with its good restaurant and rooftop bar. The staff are very helpful. But they have to close the rooftop bar at night due to complaints from neighbors. But it's definely worth the money. I'll still stay at this one next time.

Best hostel we have stayed in. Staff all locals but hilarious and great fun. Excellent vibe. The dorms are brilliant. Great secure storage and big beds. Fair comments on the food; it's pricey but it's also dam good. Highly recommended.

This hostel cannot be categorized as a typical Cambodian hostel! It's is really westernized! Except for the room prices, everything is quite expensive! Definitely a great place to stay and meet friends but nothing beyond these two aspects. Food and drinks too expensive

Loved this place, the dorm beds were huge singles - comfortable, air con and good hot showers. The location is about a $2 tuk tuk to central market and the riverside. The rooftop bar was beautiful and a great place to meet people - definitely a social hostel but it's easy enough to chill out downstairs if you'd prefer a quiet night. Staff helped organise tours and even helped us with some restaurant bookings, printing etc too. They also have a restaurant that is pricey but so very convenient.

The Mad Monkey is a fun place to stay. Like really, really fun. It's definitely a party hostel, but in a town with a couple depressing tourist attractions, this is exactly the environment you need to return to! The staff were great, the bar was an awesome social gathering spot and for solo travellers, you never, ever feel lonely. Social people attract social people and the Mad Monkey caters to its friendly, social clientele.

The bar is an excellent place to meet people as a solo traveler. If the food is a little pricey it's because it's going to a good cause (the owners really care about their staff). The beds are huge. It would be even better if there was a quieter area to chill without loud music during the day.

The sunset bar is a great place to meet fellow travellers and make new friends. The bartenders are great fun as well. They can organise a tukt tuk to take you round to the Killing Fields and S-21 and can help you find other travellers to pitch in with so the journey is cheaper which was really handy. Had an absolutely fantastic time at this hostel and will not hesitate in staying there again next time I'm in Phnom Penh. And there WILL be a next time! I loved Cambodia.

We only stayed for a night, but it was a pleasant ambience. The rooms were rather tiny, considering the price. There was also no television nor a mini-bar in the room. The need for a TV is not to while away the time watching it, but just to know whats happening around the world, while we are vacationing. In case there are any riots or any other agitation we will be prepared for it. The staff was however very nice and jolly.

On paper this is an excellent hostel which we were looking forward to spend new year at. The hostel is western owned and staffed by young khymers from disadvantaged backgrounds. Great, however they're poorly trained. The happy hour is 3-5pm when no one is around, a $4 bus tickets costs $8 from them, their tuk tuk drivers try and charge a $2 trip at $2 per person! Restaurant is over priced for the level of service you get. The hostel is located in a sleepy area of town and don't they know it!

Amazing hostel! Stayed over new year and had a great time. Really friendly staff, 2 brilliant bars, huge beds, and the food is the best western food I had in asia (worth paying the extra for it). Go!

Very friendly staff. Always helpful. Located near lots of restaurants, spa, massage. Very safe and clean. Every bed has a locker. Hot water :) Food is very good, even if a bit expensive for Phnom Penh. Came back to Mad Monkey already. Very good value for money.
