As other people mentioned they overbooked the hostel so we were turned away on arrival. Even tho we booked on hostel world. Seems to be a common occurence at the mad monkey. Found a cheaper place closer to town on our own. I advise you call ahead to confirm your booking! Poor location too.

felt so surprised the first moment we arrived. The restaurant downstairs is with great atmosphere. We were in ROOM8 and disappointedly found that there was no locker in it,which was no in accordence with the introduction. But we were fine then since we did trust the security here. We went to the bar upstairs the 2nd night which was also the last night, and it's like...wow,wish we could stay here longer! One the whole, it is great houstel with friendly staff and great atmosphere.

We came here with high expectations, especially since we booked after we had read about their "amazing" rooftop bar/patio (wasn't crazy or anything extraordinary during our stay, hmm). We had a private room which was nice, but restaurant and bus prices were expensive (I guess it's expected when booking transportation through a hotel or hostel), and so were the tuk tuk drivers. We booked our bus to Siem Reap and got tuk tuks outside of the hostel.

Best hostel I've ever stayed at. The staff is definitely the highlight of the Mad Monkey; they are incredibly friendly and do whatever possible to make you feel welcome. The owners are frequently around, giving out free shots at the great bar upstairs. Rooms are very clean and I actually fit on the bed, which as a 6'4" (193 cm) male can be difficult to find in Asia. The restaurant downstairs serves the best western breakfast that I had in 6 months of travelling around the area.

Dorm beds really good.easy to meet ppl. Negative note, I booked online4days earlier for 6 bed dorm. When arrived at 11pm they told me there was a problem with the dorm and I had to stay next door in a private room, which sounds good but the reason I wanted a dorm was to meet people so was disappointed. Also meant I had to move rooms the next day which was annoying. Then found out someone else had just rocked up without a booking that day and got in6bed dorm. Next day got put in loud 12 bed dorm

Very nice hostel. Excellent food and cool rooftop bar. We enjoyed staying here. The only pity was that our bathroom was stinking terribly out of the ventilation the whole time. Otherwise everything was nice and clean.

Despite a computer glitch where our booking was lost, meaning we only stayed here one night, the staff were quite helpful and friendly. Great place to hang out and nice big rooms.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mad Monkey in Phnom Penh. The staff was incredibly friendly, loved the bar and restaurant, and the facilities were very clean. I stayed in the Canopy Dorm and felt very comfortable and safe!
