Good location and nice bar but that was about it. We had a room downstairs right next to the construction, it was going on from 7am until very late, so impossible to get any sleep. We tried to talk the the staff about it but they were very rude to us, so it wasn't the best experience at all. Definitely would not go there at this period of year as they are doing some major construction next door, Mad Monkey should tell its customers about this...
Good place to meet people, the rooms are good as well. The staff are really friendly.
The Mad Monkey was the best hostel I stayed at my entire visit. Great atmosphere! It was really easy to meet people and the hostel staff was amazing. In the morning, they helped organize tours to the Killing Fields and S-21, so that I didn't have to hire my own tuk tuk.
amazing staff who are always helpful! Cleanliest hostel I have ever stayed!

Stayed 2 nights there. They didn't want to organise pick ups from bus station which was ok. Dorm room was excellent, however the shower and toilet was a bit cramped. Some of the staff were not as helpful as others. The rooftop bar is excellent and the food in the cafe is very good. Its a long walk to the riverside area but nothing that a tuk tuk ride cant fix.
My wife and I were not impressed with the mad monkey hostel after staying there for a week. Initially we had booked a private double bed room, and found that it was a tiny room with no windows, stained walls and a tiny desk. We upgraded our room and found that the cleaning staff only cleaned our room once in 5 days. Our bathroom light didn't work and the bathroom was filled with ants. The staff at the desk was not pleasant or polite. However the food was great and the atmosphere was good.
A good social hostel, fun events and a good bar. The beds were comfy and big. Would definitely stay here again.
Mad monkey is a great hostel with a lively feeling. The sunset bar is great (and occasionally crazy) and the staff are lovely and very helpful. The restaurant downstairs is damn good, and the whole place has an energetic and exciting vibe. A great first stop in Cambodia for me, would stay there again for sure.
Loved the Mad Monkey and stayed there on 3 different occasions. Will definitely recommend!
I stayed in a private room for one night and unfortunately didn't get to enjoy it too much because I had a bout of food poisoning. The staff at the front desk is a little intense and a little abrupt, but the rooms are clean, the art is cool, and the hostel has a nice downstairs restaurant and upstairs bar area. The restaurant is pricey for Phnom Penh. There are other places nearby, easy to walk to some sights with a map and easy to catch a ride via tuk tuk or motor bike too.
One of my favorite hostels of my complete trip so far. I was recommended by fellow travelers. Its very sociable!! The dorms, beds and bathrooms are excellent! Good wifi connection in both buildings! The staff is really friendly and helpful, and like to make a small talk! The hostel arranges every night something different in their rooftop bar, like ladies night, BBQ night, pubcrawl, etc. The food in the restaurant is kinda expensive but it's really good and you get a fair portion!
Mad Monkey was amazing because the staff there is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are really clean and the food there is quite good. Would definitely stay again!
The mad monkey is a classical backpacker style hostel, great for meeting people from all around the world and take a break from your journey. The staff is nice and speak good english overall ! It very busy and the sunset bar always find "good" excuses to party (until 11pm then everyone goes to a club).
Very nice backpacker hostel, good bar and restaurant. Staff friendly if a bit disorganised at times. Beds and bathrooms decent
The location isn't very good. But the staff were nice! I had a good stay and met some good friends there.
Excellent place however beds and not comfortable, and they recommend us a VIP bus to Siem Reap with Wifi that should take 4 hours. This bus actually takes 7 hours and no wifi was available and we paid 5-6 usd more from he normal bus. So if sour are staying in there don't take the bus service with them.
Only stayed one night and bumped into a mate that was staying there so we went down town. It is supposed to have a great vibe but I only had one beer there so I couldnt tell you!
I love the Mad Monkey! It has a fantastic hostel atmosphere along with great rooms at a low price. I recommend this hostel to everyone going to Phnom Penh!
Great hostel. Made by the staff. Te policy that te management have adopted and the work they do with local charities to give jobs to those in need is a great model. Food is good in the restaurant too.
