Nice place and nice staff. A good option if you're looking to stay at Rio's beaches.

I've been travelling in Brasil for 4 months, and everytime I go to Rio I've stayed at mango tree! it is just because I know that no other place can beat it! The staff is just wonderful, really helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is really nice, always meet new friends there, and the breakfast is really good! The service is really good, the staff will always help you with what you need! It is also really close and easy to go to the beach! Can't say anything bad about it! Love mango tree! :)

Great location in the center of Ipanema, very close to the beach. A clean place, with many people around, yet doesn't feel crowded.

Stayed here for 6 nights and this is one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in. Really clean, friendly and helpful staff and fantastic location - one block away from Ipanema beach. Breakfast is great - buffet style with bread, ham, cheese, fresh papaya and watermelon, muesli, yogurt etc. - the works! Rooms and bathroom were really clean, bedsheets replaced every day. Slightly quieter atmosphere than other hostels I've been in but would still very highly recommend this hostel!

It was all and all a really great place. The one critique would be that the bar area is only open until 10pm. Other than that, it is really great!!

The best hostel we stayed on ou trip in Brazil. Very friendly English speaking staff. Lovely breakfast and relatively clean rooms and bathrooms. You don't need more- excellent location- this place will see me again! Thx to Rich and his team!

They clean every day, excellent location, there was a brasilian girl of the staff that was very rude, she should be more polite. Guys there aren't enough switchs on the 6 people room I was. I had bad luck with some room partners, but it's a nice hostel. Lots of english speakers.

I enjoyed staying at this hostel. The location is great, one block from Ipanema beach. The hostel was also quiet for those that want to be able to get a good night sleep. It was also clean. And even though the rooms are not locked, they provide locks for the lockers which most hostels usually dont provide.

Great location! Only one block from Ipanema Beach in a very safe area. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and different tours. Fun relaxed environment.

The location is perfect. Only one block far from Ipanema beach. There are some details that would make the difference, like: they should install mirrors in the bedrooms (I stayed in a private room with shared restroom) so this could avoid using the restroom sometimes; should install some shelf at the shower, because you have to let your soap/shampoo on the floor; and try to fix the noise of the air conditioning. Good breakfast.

Hostel was great, only one 6 bed dorm is a thoroughfare to another 6 bed firm so with people constantly coming and going into either dorm it is actually a 12 bed dorm and should be priced accordingly

Arrived late at night. The hostel doesn't even have a proper sign outside the hostel with it's name. I walked by it 3 times and didn't even know. I think it's quite stupid of them. Most people arrive into Rio thinking it is dangerous, especially at night. And I was walking around with all my luggage at night trying to find the place. Upon check-in I noticed the bathrooms were in pretty dirty condition: dirty/wet floors and not enough toilet paper. Also, they turn off the computers at 10pm

This hotel is in a great location and is excellent value for money. Full of young Brits (this may be a good or bad thing for you!) It has wif-fi and a nice living room. Breakfast was simple but nice and the staff were very helpful mix of english speakers and brazilians. The room was pleasant with air con (a bit of a clunky but did the job) and it was quiet which noone singing etc.

Overall this hostel is pretty fair. The location is perfect. One block from the beach and right in the heart of Ipanema. My biggest complain about the hostel would be the staff. The owner doesn't really manage the hostel but rather has a few youngsters working there. Overall, they don't give you much details in terms of where you should go, etc. One of them in particular is terrible - no manners, no help what so ever. Washrooms are dirty. We stayed in a 6dorm and it's quite small but price is ok

While the location is great, the staff was incredibly indifferent toward me, in fact often making me feel as though I wasn't welcome or that I was being a burden with my questions or concerns. The wifi didn't work at all for the three days that I was there, and on my last morning I woke up with hundreds of bites that I am praying were sand flies and not bed bugs. There are much better places to stay in Rio!!

Great hostel! Crowd that gathers there is usually aweome, staff speak almost all European languages and are super friendly and helpful. They also make pretty awesome capirinhas (and prices are affordable). Tons of tours to buy, all sorts of maps and guides and personal advice to make your trip worthwhile. One block away from Ipanema beach - the safest and nicest place in Rio. Strongly recommend! Of problems: WiFi there kind of sucks.
