Well guys, your hostel is great and the name Maze perfectly suits the building, BTW my room was too small. Some people just behaved like real idiots (like knocking at your door at five in the night and asking if you were asleep, or starting smoking in the room once finished asking you if the smoke bothered you). I can't blame the staff for the behavior of their guests (or inmates, as you want to call them) but I can say that they could improve the cleaning standards. Cheers.

It was a really good Hostel with really good dinner and sometimes also breakfast. It was also great that there was a lot of planned stuff to do in the evening.

Its time they have to renew the beds and quilts in the hostel. The atmosphere in the hostel was pretty good. Lot of young crowd having fun. Good thing about the hostel is that they organize some kind of events which gives people a chance to meet and know each other. The way the people are recieved at the time of arrival was not that great and a bit arrogant too. The cleanliness is not that great but could be done better.

I was content until I found a cockroach on my bedroom window sill on the eve of my departure. One sleepless night.

Being 40+ women, we were somewhat hesitant and not knowing what to expect. Happily our stay was fantastic. The staff were awesome, even the guests were great (helping us with bags etc). We had a great weekend, and as it is right in the city, it was close to everything we wanted. We would highly recommend this place. Secure room, plenty of hot water, sure some guests were messy, but their cleaning staff were on to it pretty quickly! We will be back!!!!

Toilets were horrific. Carpets stained and stank. Also we were told to come back at 2pm for check in. 2pm!? Seriously? If you're planning a stay in Sydney I recommended saving up and staying somewhere decent. Ie: Bounce.

The door should be able to be locked from inside. It is really unsafe that a cleaner can have key to open your door.

The maze is a fun place to stay in the heart of Sydney. We found the common room to be a good laugh and the free food is a nice touch. There are always lots of activities to bring people together, which is good. On the down side the place is filthy. The beds need replacing, we had a double which it was very hard to stay on as it sloped down on both sides. Some ones room was totally flooded by rain water whilst we were there, although we didn't see any cockroaches.

Our room was tiny, so that only a bunkbed could be installed (a little funny for a two bed partner room). There could have been little lamps at the beds for reading ones good-nihght-stories. But the rest was ok: good matrasses, warm covers, Ventilator ... Bathrooms were tiedy, water warm and plenty, sufficent doches and colsets (we never had to wait). Because we stayed the Easter-weekend at the hostel, it was noisy outside till 4 o'clock in the morning, but zhat's not the fault of the hostel!

The maze backpackers looks like a factory. water pipes need to be replaced as they are rusted.. Loads of backpackers are disrespectful as they don 't mind screaming or speaking loudly in the corridors in the middle of the night (obviously drunk!). Security agent should be hired to prevent this. As well as the toilets are just dirty, once again backpackers don't respect the premises and maybe extra cleaners should be hired...

I would not suggest staying here unless you ABSOLUTELY need to, the rooms were very dirty the bathrooms were horribly cleaned and destroyed.

the hostel is very spacious, cheap and close to shops and loop busses. just a 10 minute walk to Draling Harbour and at the heart of many shops and popular centres. The desk is open 24-7 and they all seem very friendly.. my pillow was really comfy and the bed was also oretty good !!!! Its well maintaned but a little smelly - i guess that comes back on the guests anyway. so please chuck your food out frm the fridges and do your dishes... :)

This hostel is by far one of the worst I've stayed in. The staff was rude when we checked in and didn't give us our discount coupons as advertised. It's a "party" hostel, which means they completely neglect cleaning anything since apparently "drunk people don't know the difference". Room was damp and smelled, and the sheets had not been changed and the room not vacuumed. We had to ask for this to be done, which was met with frowns. The only plus is that the free coupons help discount your stay.

I cannot recommend this Hostel, it was dirty, kitchen was not very good, it took us 1 hour to cook pasta because of the bad/not working kitchen equipment. showers and toilette dirty as well. we had to sleep in one bad, because the other one had a matress you couldn't sleep on. location of the hostel is ok, but you need to walk 25-30 min to reach Circular Quay, stuff was friendly.
