Some of the staff were a tad bit rude and unhelpful, And the window in our room wouldnt open (and the stuff didnt really try to help us by opening it) But apart from that we had a great stay. It was in a great location, very central. It was also a very social hostel, met heaps of new people in the common rooms :) And the place was generally pretty clean. Will be staying there again for sure :) Thanks Maze.

Very dirty.. In the ladies bathroom, there were cockroaches in the shower.. The showers were weak, water just dripped out. The bathrooms looked like they were never cleaned - same goes for the rooms. I ended up getting a bad contact rash from the sheets and had to go to the chemist for cream. ItsCheap but not worth it in the end if you want a nice place to sleep.

friendly staff and fellow hostel dwellers, cleaned pretty regularly (smell of bleach gave that away). my only gripe is the bed was really uncomfortable, sank really bad in the middle. i had to go to a chiropractor to be able to walk again.

Stayed in a double room which we had to go through a A noisy common room to get to, could not sleep with the noise. WhOle hostel was FILTHY!! No decent cooking facilities in the kitchen. Room has disgusting carpet, stains on bed and walls and had a smell of stale urine. We checked out 5 mins late and they kept 40 dollar key deposit!! Horrific! Would never stay there again!! Receptionist was also rude and unhelpful! I've stayed in a lot of hostels around Australia and this is by far the worst!

I chose this hostel because it is advertised as a party hostel but probably because we stayed on weekdays there weren't any party nights organised apart from a few quiet drinks in the pub next door. The hostel accomodates a lot of people though so it is fairly easy to meet people and there are a common room and a dining room/kitchen area. The room smelt very bad and we saw a dead cockroach, this isn't unusual for hostels just that we expected a bit more for our buck. Good location in a fun area.

The guy at the front desk as rude and reluctant to provide any help. The double room was large, however only one working power point. The hostel was quiet besides for the air con units outside the window. Fantastic location.

Do not stay here if you are over 25 or want a quiet hostel!!! This hostel is for a 'party crowd' and the dorms are way too expensive for what you're getting (which is extremely cramped rooms with squeaky beds, no lockers and no wi-fi (you must pay for wi-fi!!). I wont condemn Maze completely - it's big, there's allot of activities/tours going on (cheap food and booze offers), they have kitchens, laundry, games/t.v room so it's good from that perspective but this won't be everyone's cup of tea.

One of the worst hostels Ive ever stayed in- dirty, terrible lay out for a building (it really is a maze when you are trying to get to your room) no lift so if you have a heavy bag you have to lug it up flights of stairs, didnt find the other guests that friendly compared to other hostels- my advice spend an extra 3 dollars and go across the road to nomads or if you really wana treat urself go to wake up hostel! Avoid the maze at all cost

we stayed there 3 years ago & standards have improved. We didn't get the room we originally booked into, but after going out for a few hours on our return the room had been sorted out to our satisfaction. The staff were great

bathrooms are horrible. shaving clippings in sink, muddy floors, smell. anyone can ask for key to go into left baggage room. seems very unsafe. didn't even need to show a key before we checked in.

This place is a bit of a dump. Our private room was clean and tidy, but the hallways and kitchens were disgusting...the cockroaches are huge. The womens showers were a joke, out of 5 showers only two of them even had a shower head, so it was like washing under a tap, and the hot water always ran out! This place is cheap, and it shows.

Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy partying and a good vibe. If looking for a quiet, super-clean place, you should look elsewhere. We had a great time!

Dirty and decrepit expect to pay a lot more for what you get. For thirty dollars more you could get a three or four star hotel. Chose the hostel for its position which was really handy. The staff were rude and unhelpful and there is hair EVERYWHERE! Not normally narky about it but I regretted not bringing thongs for the showers, they were gross.
