When we arrived the hostel staff didn't acknowledge our arrival and when they did they took a their turn at pool before checking us in. Once we checked into the room which was an eight bed dorm we found one bed broken so they had set up a camper bed mattress as a substitute. The mattress was horrible to sleep on and one of our friends ended up moving rooms which wasn't great on a holiday together. The facilities were fine and it has everything you need in a hostel. Just no atmosphere

Absolutely loved it, fantastic place with great people, excellent events each day, great bar, and right next to the old town and near heaps of restaurants and bars. The perfect hostel!

Ok as a hostel. But....not conducive to a good night's sleep. It was very noisy (both from the bar next door and a loud stag party)

I am sorry to say that the staff was cold as estonian ice, except for the nice brasilian girl I only met checking out.

Great Hostel in a perfect location, only a short walk to the old town and harbour area. Staff were really firiendly and relaxed, always ready to answer any questions. Rooms were clean and a nice size. The bathrooms were great, quite large for hostel standards and they were always clean. Kitchen had lots of facilities making it easy to eat at the hostel. Overall a great hostel highly recommended :)

The location of the shower rooms (or the social area) is not very good. I stayed in two different rooms. In the first night, I have to pass the main hall where the reception and the snooker table is before and after I shower. In the second night, I have to pass the movie room "in front of" people again before and after showering. It's kind of embarrassing!

The Monks is all time!! Very spacious, great facilities and awesome staff. Matt the manager is an absolute champ. Had such a fun week here n i'd recommend it to anyone passing through the area. So easy and close to get to any of the bars at night. Cheers guys.

Ok hostel if you are prepared to deal with the noise. I had been able to sleep better, it would've been a very positive stay.

Very multicultural atmosphere with nice and tidy beds, a huge kitchen and a cosy common room. I love the fact that there is someone sitting 24 hours at the reception!

It was a wonderful hostel, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and ready to accommodate! The only complaint I had was that it was extremely difficult to find- my group and one other spent at least 2 hours trying to locate it.
