I really enjoyed my staying at New York Loft Hostel, and I met very cool people during the social time when the free fondue dinner was served. The staff was very helpful and nice! I will definitely stay there again if I am back in town.

We had the twin private room with shared bathrooms hoping it would be quieter than the big rooms. It was however located near to the social room so there were quite some people passing by all the time and sometimes phoning (screaming) on the floor. As mentioned before, you should bring your own lock and though wi-fi is free, using "their" pcs costs $1/10min. Other than that the place is good and fairly clean, the free breakfast offers a lot of choices, and the location is okay.

Good if you're looking for a cheap place to stay 1 or 2 nights. Bedrooms are clean, there are lockers (need your own lock) and bathrooms are clean enough. Subway station close by. Don't go there if you plan to stay longer. It's in an industrial area with weird people hanging around (a bit scary if u are a woman traveling alone, since you walk through an almost empty, run down area). No common room, just kitchen and a big TV - you can't chill and talk. Awful breakfast, sweet stuff & no coffee.

had a amazing time with the people i met, and opened a whole new world to hostels when traverling. on the down side found out i was being ripped off for prices. as on new years eve i payed 150 dollers in advance and found out people showing up on the day where paying 80 dollers!!!! i understand paying more in advance to secure your bed but 70 dollers extra to me is discusting!!!, anouther down side was the attitude towards policy rules, as they are not all clearly stated, no girls in your bed!!!

There's not much around the hostel itself, but it's only 2 blocks from the L to take you into Manhattan or back to Bedford Ave or to transfers to get you around other parts of Brooklyn & New York. The room I stayed in was excellent, every bed had it's own hooks and locker, and the room was huge for only 9 people. 2 ensuite bathrooms in our room as well which were clean & spacious. Room got chilly overnight, don't be shy to ask reception for another blanket if you're too cold.

One thing bothering me was lack of outlet. For those of you guys(who want take picture a lot), recharging batteries of a digital camera is one of the most important things. For 10 people there were just a few outlets. But except this, everything was excellent!

Take a taxi to the hostel if you have luggage! Getting there by public transportation is a pain!! I was upset that I somehow lost 2 expensive pullovers during my stay. Anyways, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast was very good, such a variety of cereals, waffels, toastbread and fruits. It is from 6-9AM. It's cold at night and the lights are not bright. Only 2 bathrooms in the 16-bed dorms. Friendly staff. Towels are $3/night. Great atmosphere though, I met very nice people there!

Rooms were really great for both comfort and atmosphere, especially the more spacious mixed dorms. Best hostel rooms I've been in! Friendly and helpful staff, common areas were rather small but their size also helped with mingling. The location is not great, it's close to the subway and has stores and cafes nearby, but the neighborhood is really not that nice especially after dark. Not too far from Manhattan or JFK. Slow WiFi and no laundry facilities. Would recommend though.

The staff member Jarel welcomed me warmly....and the kitchen helpers were friendly and did a lot of dishes that visitors could have done without "attitudes" All the meals offered were high quality .Thanks. Enjoyed my four days !

I really enjoyed this hostel. Nice, clean, 24 hr reception. Big, hearty breakfast, and they rent iPads. Bring a padlock for your locker. Tracy at the front desk was extremely helpful. I'll definitely stay here again!

The dorm room hostels are beautiful. It is a very clean place. The janitorial staff is always keeping up on things. This hostel is one of the best I've been in and I've been in quite a few.

I stayed here for three nights. Very nice place. The beds and sheets are clean. The beds are not bunks which is nice. The bathroom is very clean too! The staff is nice. The location is Okay. I liked that there is free street parking since I had a car. Awesome free breakfast in the morning and hassle free WIFI. This is an excellent place to crash if you are in NYC. Definitely check it out if you dont mind sharing space with multiple people. Kuddos!

Only 1 major problem: The heat was OFF in my dorm room, for 2+ days! When I arrived Sat. December 17 the room was chilly & the metal heat registers were cold to the touch. I asked for extra blankets, but even with that & sleeping in extra clothes, I woke up really cold. Other women slept in their coats/gloves. There was NO HEAT Sat, or Sun, or Sun night: In WINTER, in NYC. I told Lenny the desk worker, & he said I "had attitude" & refused to notify the Mgr. He finally gave me another room.

Had a hard time finding a cab-ride from Manhattan to Brooklyn at 5 in the morning, but other than that it was a good place to stay at.
