I very much enjoyed the hostel. We did book for a six all female dorm we got put in the 20 bed mixed dorm but we never brought it up, so I'm not sure if they would have switched us or not. We just wanted a place to stay. Directions online from train station to the place fail to mention that there are 4 train stations in Harbin so we had to take a cab. Hostel is mostly Chinese speaking but with taxis we were able to call when they didn't know where we wanted and the hostel would direct him.

The staff couldn't give us directions for the ice festival, the best they did was give us a bus number. The didn't tell us where to get the bus from or which direction to go in. It felt like the staff didn't want to help with questions. There was a very definite need for lamps on each bed in the dorm rooms. On the whole it was an okay place to stay, there was no key for the dorm room with the doors just being left open all the time. It's further to the city than they say.

This hotel is very recommended when we are in Harbin.
