Nicest staff ever! Jazmine was great help with booking and advice on what to do. They were amazingly accommodating for leaving your bags or hanging out before your bus came. Always around when you needed them. The rooms itself were alright just basic.
Northern Greenhouse was a good place to stay. The rooms have lockers (with plugs) and big bins underneath the beds. There is also a fridge, ensuite, and balcony. Staff was nice, especially the man who helped us with the wifi, which did not work well. The ensuite in the dorm was a little challenging, since there were no other bathrooms that I knew of. They could also use lights at each bed. My dormmates were good. Good location, a couple blocks from the esplanade.
A very clean hostel with great storage facilities. The pool was also great for a quick dip. Location is ideal if you want to be central to everything. If you want a half decent nights sleep, this is the hostel to go to. The only bad point I would say is the wifi. It's very poor and cuts out a lot. It also got really frustrating when you mentioned this to the staff and they said it's because 'a lot of people were using it' when the communal area was dead.

The hostels nice and good location secure private parking. One thing that a challenge though is charging your stuff due to no power points free in tv room and none available in common area. In the rooms there are a few but very inconveniently located next to sink and behind bottom bunks.
Loved the lounge area, great chill out zone, although a toilet is needed so you don't have to keep going back to your room. Wifi is frustrating because you have to keep putting in a ridiculously long password every time u want to connect. Other than that the free activities to the rainforest, beach, sailing were great & highly recommend going on them. Rooms are spacious with own fridges and sinks.
Stayed in a 6 bed dorm, and loved it! The room was spacious, loved the fridge in the room, air conditioning was fab and the ensuite was great to have. The common area was awesome, had a very open, tropical feel! Was also able to book super tours on the recommendation of the travel agent working there. The events pt on were great, and made the experience whole! Would totally stay again when back in Cairns
The apt with private bathroom was very good as well as the common area (plus free breakfast!). Staff was very friendly and helpfull. However the internet connection was extremely slow.
Security is great. Unfortunately the staff can be moody and uncooperative over simple things. The kitchen was atrocious, there are no glasses, the mugs are stained plastic
Excellent Cleaning, Security, Kitchen and Free Tour. Wifi could be improved as the ratio between staff and backpackers...more genuine and less formal. The price in high season 30$ per day in 6 bed dorm is expensive. It never happened that after I have been there 25 DAYS without ever giving problems to you, after I spending more than 500$, I extended my stay for another 2day and I had to pay 60$, when there was a discount of 4$ day for who stayed for minimum a week. This was really absurd.
This place is a breath of fresh air after staying at Giligans. If you are after a nice place to stay, friendly people, clean facilities, but dont want to be at a party hostel 24/7 then this hostel comes highly recommended. Wireless could be better. The wireless signal is strong when in the main communal area. But the Internet connection gets congested during peak hours and is unusable. We even got a free trip to the waterfalls! Which was a great way to make new friends. Highly recommended.
Really nice hostel, everyday something going on like free bbq or free shuttlebus to the botanic garden...free breakfast is great rooms are ensuite with own kitchen and lockers with chargers in it loved it
A really nice and clean hostel. One of the best hostels I stayed in during my time in Australia. Its a really big hostel, but it was quiet. In the morning there's a free breakfast and on Sunday a BBQ for free. GREAT!
Northern Greenhouse is AMAZING! It's probably the best hostel I had ever stayed. They provide free basic breakfast, free wifi (although it does not work well in the room and had some problems once in a while, but it is quite smooth at the common area); and they have so many free activities going on! Including free BBQ dinner, free tour to the Rainforest; also a swimming pool and a snooker table for everyone to enjoy! Staff are nice, all facilities are clean and location is superb!
Liked it very much and come back for sure!!!! ;-)
