This hostel was very unique in terms if decoration a very warm place to stay in the cold. The staff was friendly and helpful :) the only downside was the showers , either too cold or too hot :( and there was no hair dryer like it said they had

When I first arrived staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was told I would be upgraded to the guesthouse for the first night but would have to check out by 10am and transferred to another room in the main building which was fine as free breakfast is between 8-10am anyway. The guesthouse was lovely, full of free bits for midnight snacker's and bed comfortable and main house nice for a hostel too. Well worth a little extra, will stay there again for definite :) thanks!

Nice hostel, rooms can feel a bit crowded as many a long term stayers so spread all there stuff all over the shop. But a good atmosphere and plenty of places to hang out, free food nights are cool too.

Was an ok hostel which did have some benefits over others but being a little out the way from the main city part it was over priced

The Nunnery was a great boutique hostel. I stayed there twice. The first time I was upgraded to the guesthouse next door. I felt totally spoiled. The guesthouse has more of a bed and breakfast feel, with beautiful wood floors, a library/dining room, jacuzzi bath, and down comforters. The regular hostel is also quite nice. Wednesday soup night was SO good, and the included breakfast is unreal - the fresh bread rolls are delicious, and they provide toppings and hot drinks as well.

As always another amazing stay at The Nunnery!!! The hostel itself is the best one I've ever stayed in, in Australia. And after being here for two years, I've been in a fair few! I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Melbourne. The staff are absolutely amazing and super friendly, the hostel themed nights are great fun and the breakfast is fab especially pancakes on a Sunday! It's in a great location and I always meet the best people here. Just love it!!!

I had a great stay - very good breakfast, especially the pancake breakfast on Sunday! Heaps of activities, that make it very easy to meet new people. The building itself is really beautiful, nice group room, everything is really clean but the kitchen could be bigger. I stayed in a four bed dorm, the bed was good and it was quiet at night. You have to bring your own lock for the locker. Nice staff! I would definitely stay there again!

Best hostel i've ever stayed in! Cute little dorms and a really cozy lounge, more like a livingroom, accually. location is really good, fitzroy has heaps of bars/pubs/stores/everything and 5 min on the tram to the CBD. Wonderful people and things like free pancakes on sunday morning is gold. They do pub crawls with the whole hostel too so its easy to meet people. Stay here!

Great place, great character and although it is a bit more money it's definately worth it. Cannot urge everyone to at least go and see the place, even for just a night. Free homemade soup, friendly staff. I was only there 3 nights and was spending most of my time with mates, so was only there to sleep. 10 mins walk from the cbd is no hassle. After 11.5 months in Aus, definately the best place I've stayed

The Nunnery Guesthouse is seperate to the hostel - a nice, comfortable place to stay. Directly across from museum and close to many cafes, restaurants and bars

While the location was great, avoid room 3 at all costs! This room was a large 12-person (I think) room and it was absolutely disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. The bathroom was equally as gross. On the second day of my stay, the light went out and the rest of the weekend we had to use the facilities and shower in the dark. The people in the room were also very disrespectful, shouting at all hours and turning the lights on in the middle of the night.
