Good value for money but what was annoying was the communication by staff. They took a week to respond to my email and this was the day we were due to stay there.

Great Location, love Fitzroy. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and other guests. Free Breakfast. Would be awesome to have lockers in rooms and just watch some of the slippery stairs. Overall an awesome place to stay, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Probably the best place in Melbourne, whether for a few days or for long-term stay. Really nice facilities. Activities such as a (free) bbq on fridays make it easy to meet people too. Felt homier than a hotel, I think most people staying there "while they look for a place to rent" aren't really looking...

Activities at the hostel are a good way to meet people - pub crawl, bbq etc (and really good fun) Nice big tv in room. Overall a nice place to stay!

Staff is pretty nice. The location is convenient. One disadvantage is our room is facing the main street and the noise is huge.

X...web photos of dorm rooms are deceiving (stayed in cramped 6-8 shared dorm. could use more lighting and power points in rooms) +...shared bathrooms, kitchen and lounge were kept clean. +...helpful, friendly staff; great theme nights (movie & pub night)! + ...great location, near shops, restaurants, tram access + ...secure access to rooms X...complimentary wifi access (even for 1night) would be helpful +...good mix of guests (age & travel experience)

Booked for 2 days and stayed in the end 1 week. One of the nicest hostels I have ever been so far (not only Australia)!

We arrived at around 11:30pm and were let in without any problems. The building is located across from a nice park and has tram access right out the front. We actually walked to most places from there. I had originally booked an 8-bed dorm but we were informed that due to the hostel being full, we had been upgraded to a 12-bed dorm for free which gave the 7 of us a lot more room to move. Very neat, clean hostel full of charm. Would definitely stay there again!

I had just driven for 13 hours with friends and arrived to excellent service. We were so exhausted and we appreciated all the little touches: being asked what kind of night we wanted to have (to recommend activities) and being walked to our room. On the way to The Nunnery we were even guided over the phone where to park our car and managed to avoid tram roads thanks to the directions! The bathrooms were awesome and a hot shower in a spacious bathroom was just divine after so long on the road!

Really nice atmosphere and breakfast. Although the common area's are nice, I found the dorms quite dirty, especially the bathrooms.

So happy that we chose to stayed in this hostel. Lots of character and the place is very clean. Located right outside of CBD and near many restaurants and shops. If you drive you can park on the street overnight for free. They have a cozy lounge room where you can chill. Super friendly staff. They close kitchen at night though.
