I was surprised there was no air-con in a 3rd floor room. There was a fan which was nice--except that to climb into the top bunk you had to be SUPER careful not to have the fan chop your head off! I moved to a lower bunk as soon as another guest had checked out. Also it was nice that the trash from the room was removed every day but it also could have done with a daily floor sweep.

Very sociable hostel and great staff. Downsides are you have to make your own beds with sheets provided and the wifi is not free.

Kirchen with dining table in it is a bit too small but sufficient. Free WiFi would have been cool but nonetheless it was a nice hostel with an awesome location near the cbd.

What I like about the Nunnery is that they have a lot of activities you can join. It would be a good idea if the internet is for free use.

Had a really good time at this hostel - met lots of cool people and the hostel was very nice overall. everything was clean and in good repair and the nights where there were events put on were cool - the bar crawl was well worth it! the main annoying thing was having to move rooms fairly ofter (compared to other hostels i've stayed in) also the kitchen was a little small for the amount of people. well recommended though.

This is a great hostel overall. The location is a bit out of the centre but in a cool suburb and easily accessible by tram. There's free breakfast, free BBQ on a Friday and people were very friendly. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm which could really do with some extra storage space - I've never stayed in such a messy room! Aside from that though, I would stay here - cool and quirky place.

This hostel had amazing character and a great vibe. It you want, you can treat this hostel as a place to lay low and chill, or if you feel like partying there is always a group up for going to a cool bar. Don't waste your time planning what to do while you're in Melbourne because the Nunnery can do it for you. They literally had this recommendations sheet that had a map and descriptions of good (and reasonably priced) restaurants, bars, and activities to do while you are in town.

Le bâtiment a beaucoup de charme. Il y a beaucoup de monde, mais l'endroit est sympa et assez bien situé. Une bonne adresse pour passer quelques jours.

We were upgraded to a 2 person room. This was an unexpected welcome as some of the larger dorms were rather noisy. The room was very clean and comfortable. The light breakfast was good enough and cooking facilities adequate. It's rather an older building which had its charm and we were opposite Melbourne museum and tram stop 98. Nice. Close to eateries, about a 10 minute walk, not far and if your up to walking into the city centre that was only 20 minutes at best. Would stay there again.

Couldn't fault this hostel... It has character! Do note the kitchen open and close times so you can plan your meal times. Although you pay a little more than other hostels you get your monies worth there are lots of evening activities provided by the hostel...take advantage! only annoying thing is that you have to pay for internet. Would defiantly stay here again if i came back to Melbourne.

Lovely building, very rambling, and it has an outdoor courtyard and a rooftop area too. Well located right next to a tram stop, and a short walk to Fitzroy shopping/food. Staff were a little curt, though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, as I stayed over the Australian Open weeks, and the place was jam packed. The room (3 bed dorm) was tiny and faced out on the courtyard and was very noisy until around midnight.
