The Officers Quarters

The structure is an Single Officer's Quarters that was built shortly after WW2. It was built solidly and with the grand style of the time. Lots of brass and details still are visible. The building has changed little since that time. There is a feeling of the past here. The air-base is closed but the building lives. It is used as as an Apartment Building housing both apartments and single rooms. One wing of this large structure is used as a Hostel.

New 'The Officer's Lounge' This is a Common Room with a Pool Table and a new large HD TV / sitting area. Fully functional by mid July 2011.

There is a pop vending machine in the entry. Laundry Room across from the office.

The Hostel has Kitchen Facilities, large (shared) military style bathrooms for both women and men. There is a party room for gatherings or conferences. The Hostel Rooms: 3 of the rooms are set up with bunk beds for four people in each. There are also 3 rooms that are set up for double occupancy. The rooms have desks, a bar fridge, lamps, side tables and a vanity sink. The room is equipped with a new remote controlled ceiling fan. The structure offers a very quiet atmosphere, and a good sleep should be expected here.

The Hostel is easily accessed from the Hwy and just a 20 minute walk to Downtown Historic Chatham (part of Miramichi). The famous 'Bens' since the 1920's (Brian Mulrooney's fast-food haunt) *This structure has now been demolished ... sorry. Old Houses, River Boat Tours, hiking and the famous 'Kitchen Parties'. Nearby is also Speedway races, River Tubing, beaches, historic villages, cinemas, shopping, and more.
