This is a really lovely hostel. Nice rooms and good bathrooms. Only a short and very easy walk into town. It is a walk to twon but its worth it - it feels like you are in a little village hidden away and the fresh bread in the morning is great! I would stay again. Staff member was very helpful, staying back beyond office hours to check us in. Accommodation is the nicest I've ever experienced at a backpackers hostel. Distance from christchurch was a little more then a comfortable stumbling distance in the rain but it was worth it. A really charming little hostel—a little far out from the city, but makes up for it with genuine old-school character.
A word of warning: if you didn't happen to bring a sleeping bag, you have to pay a $2 duvet hire fee. This was my single biggest gripe about the place. I also thought the reading room and internet facilities were a little below the best, and there was no way to turn the heating in the rooms down or off.
Altogether though, a really nice little place. You won't regret it.A really charming little hostel—a little far out from the city, but makes up for it with genuine old-school character.

A very clean lodge with character. The bed was so comfortable, and having fresh baked morning bread in a cosy kitchen is an extra big plus. Looking forward to stay there again.A very clean lodge with character. The bed was so comfortable, and having fresh baked morning bread in a cosy kitchen is an extra big plus.
