I stayed here for one night, kitchen and bathroom facilities were well kept and very clean, bedroom was also clean and surprisingly spacious! There is a sauna and spa bath which I didn't use but great idea to have especially when the weather gets chilly. My first impression of the staff at reception was not overly friendly or helpful so I didn't really feel as welcome as I have in other hostels. Overall, pretty nice place.
Its a good quality hostel, clean with friendly staff; however I found that the hostel is too expensive for its location.
This hostel was the only one available when I booked due to the Canterbury Races. It was a 30min walk out of town. The internet was unbearably slow which was inconvenient whilst trying to book the rest of my trip and because there were NO INTERNET CAFES in Christchurch post earthquake. The reception area smelt of wet dog - because there was a dog in the office - and the showers were terrible and not enough of them as you had to queue to use them. They charged to hire towels.
I think the quality of the wifi was poor, it could only be used near the reception area.
A bit removed from the city center, but excellent facilities and the staff was helpful.
Great hostel!! A little pricey, but worth the extra.
A bit far from downtown but the hostel was very nice with a big dorm, kitchen, great bathrooms. Very comfortable. There's also a sauna and a jacuzzi. One of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed at. Easy to meet people and very quiet at night.
Lovely little hostel, lots of areas inside and out to meet and interact with people.
I booked a private, so can't speak of the dorms. Room was great and bed was super comfy. Staff were great too and the girl was cute as a button. Location was a bit far from the city centre (15-20 min walk) but not much happening in Christchurch now. Atmosphere wasn't great, but I think it was more the people in my building than anything else... pretty much all Germans who didn't seem to want to socialize with anyone else. Internet reception in my room was pretty much non existent.
Christchurch is a strange place to visit at the moment so it is hard to rate any hostel's location. But the spa and sauna (the sauna is shaped like a giant port barrel) are very welcome in winter. Good kitchen, double room with ensuite was nice. I think all the hostels in NZ are overpriced but on the whole it is a good place to stay.
Very nice homey atmosphere, wooden furniture, nice kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff. It was nice and warm in the room at night. A little disappointing that the sauna was outside with no pre-room for changing or anything (it was an August night after all).
It was good clean hostel with sauna and pool outside.... very very clean... recepcion girl was very nice...
Excellent staff, did go extra mile to make a stay a happy memorie. I've met there very nice people so my memories are positive. Hostel is located outside CBD, and it's a bit of a walk. All my reviews from AU & NZ are somehow negative because again there was no unlimited internet access, daily you can get 50 mb of data, which by all means in modern world is not enough. Also there was a problem with the wi-fi and even mobile signal in the rooms. Other than that hostel facilities were quite good.
