Great accommodation for pre or post Alpine crossing. They run a shuttle service to the beginning of the crossing and pick you up and bring you back for a small fee. The restaraunt is very nice, there is another next door, the rooms was very nice and clean, also two hot tubs that are highly helpful after the hike. Great experience.

We stayed here to do the tongariro crossing. The hostel itself feels more like a hotel than a hostel but it does have a kitchen which was pretty well stocked, and a restaurant which was good for dinner. Staff is very friendly! The breakfast buffet seemed overpriced so we skipped it and the bag lunch we purchased for our hike was inedible because it was soggy and 90% mayo. Also the walls were very thin! You can hear your neighbors talk - most don't stay up too late though.
