nice hostel in a safe and nice area with a lot of bars and restaurants around. hostel was alright but there wasnt so much to do in cali itself i think. showers and toilets werent always working, bins were full or there was no toiletpaper. Nice patio though to meet people and staff was friendly. If i were in cali again i would probably stay in pelican larry again, but i just think i wont return to cali because it seems a bit boring in day time.

I had a great stay here. I met some lovely people during my stay, and were really pleased they accommodated me at 7am after a long overnight bus journey. The bathroom was always clean with sufficient facilities, and they have big enough lockers to keep your stuff safe. They have a good tv room for chilling out... which is exactly what I needed! A great place to relax, meet others, and chill out.

Although we booked a private room the previous day, when arrived at the hostel there was no private rooms available. The staff were not apologetic for this and blamed it on Hostelworld although it was apparent to us that Pelican Larry's had made the error. The wifi was only available at the reception and not in any of the rooms, even though it's a pretty small hostel.

This hostel is pretty nice, has a nice courtyard with hammocks and a good kitchen. However, there is no breakfast and the internet is pretty expensive, costs more than the internet cafes down the street.

Great hostel, best showers I\'ve seen on my trip yet. Incredible coffee in the morning and very friendly and helpful staff. Always a cold beer in the fridge and the beds are awesome. Not too far away from the city centre and from some clubs to go out. The amount and quality of the Salsa lessons have some potential to be improved though. But great bang for the buck!!!

Gunther prepares the best BBQ we've had in ages. Also very helpful & considerate of his guests. The Pelican Larry hostel lay-out is particularly conducive to socializing with other hostelers as well as being attractively decorated. We would highly recommend to anyone -- any age - to stay at this hostel.

The owner did not return my emails when I was trying to book my accommodations. There was an issue with payment (they completely forgot to charge me) and seriously inconvenienced me in the process of trying to get payment. I am not unethical so I would never try to cheat them but dont make my like difficult when YOU mess up! I will advise anyone going to Cali to stay somewhere else and avoid Pelican Larry.

I stayed a few nights at this hostel and I was very pleased. The owner, Gunther is very attentive and very kind. The whole staff was very nice too. Even though there are many beds with many people staying for New Years it never felt crampt. The hostel is spacious and the kitchen is big. I highly recommend then BBQ the Gunther throws down. The chicken was great! The only complaint is that I couldn´t stay longer. Hope you all have a Happy New Year!
