the phoenix shanghai is a quirky and friendly place near to most of the major attractions of shanghai and the location of the hostel itself is also a bustling, fun part of town with plenty of restaruants and bars. our double private room was meticulously maintained and kitted out like a very basic hotel room- they also threw in a few unexpected extras such as a few complimentary toiletries and bedroom slippers. we got our two loads of laundry done by the hostel for a very reasonable 500 rmb.
