Too bad had to leave earlier than scheduled... Nice place to stay... Accessible to necessities...

Main room very dark. Need a key to get in the rooms, but it's tricky and most people can't open the door. As a result, my room stayed opened all night, which would have been ok if some guys hadn't decided to play pool and talk loudly at 3am...

Nice retreat in the middle of Hobart. Clean and tidy facilieties + friendly staff make it worth it to stay here!

This is a great hostel located smack dab in the middle of downtown Hobart, a 10 or 15 minute walk from Salamanca Markets and close to Battery Point. The staff is incredibly helpful and informative, and they also offer free shuttle rides to MONA and Mt. Wellington, depending on the day of the week. This is a pretty incredible offer and can save you quite a bit of money! The only downsides: there aren't any lockers, and the kitchen can get quite crowded at certain points.

Very convenient, since they have excellent tours available for free. That really made all the difference!

We enjoyed our three day stay, except for a few things: Not enough amenities (toilets, showers, wash basins) for the number of people booked in. There was no waste basket in our room, mirror or place to hang clothes other than hooks in the wall. Other than that, we would recommend the 'Frog' to most travelers.

Great staff and it's not too far from the city centre. A good selection of bottled beer and coffee is available at the bar.

Pro's first. The staff is amazing, super friendly, helpful, and activity oriented. Great place to meet fellow travelers. Cons...it breaks my heart to have to say that the facilities were not good. And I'm a regular hostel-goer, so I'm not one to expect a glistening environment. But I'm not convinced anything here was completely clean, everything from pans to couches was well past its prime, and the place was over-crowded. Biggest bummer, the water wouldn't stay warm for longer than 30 seconds.

This hostel was my favourite in Australia. The staff especially Jimmy and Emma went outbofbtheir way to be helpful and informative. The free shuttle to bonorong sanctuary, Mona and also to the top of Mount Wellington was awesome as I didn't have a car. Would highly recommend. I felt at home here with the relazed easy going atmosphere. The dog Balloo was a sweetheart.

Great location, about 10-15 mins walk to almost everything. I love the free trips too, but do sign up early for those as they fill up quite quickly. Lovely atmosphere and people. Only minor complaint is that the kitchen could be cleaner.

Really enjoyed my stay at The Pickled Frog. Comfortable, old fashioned pub feel and friendly hostel. With cool murals and designs painted on the walls. Cheap beer and free lifts to MONA , as well as up to Mt Wellington and back, if you don't want to do the bush walk/hike down. And free WI FI and internet. hostel with really cool murals and designs painted on the walls

Most expectations of a good hostel are met. Unlike so many others, free wifi here is a great positive! Kitchen is on the small side and was crammed during peak periods. The other negative was their no refund policy: so never ever pay room rates too many days ahead if travel plans are still fluid.

Amazing hostel! I do recommend, great structure, toilets are big, reception and commom areas are great and huge, very comfortable. i only consider the comfort of the beds, but rooms are in gengeral ok! They have free tours that make u save a lot of money! Ask reception to plan!

Superb place, one of the very best. Really cool decor, paintings on the walls, frog statues and a huge Alaskan Malamute dog walking in the premises. Staff feels really involved and there are trips and food nights etc. The dorm was a bit small since most are backpackers but nothing too serious. Could have stayed for a loong time.

Emma and Jimmy (and Baloo, their awesome dog!) make this place fabulous! The Pickled Frog is one of my top 3 favorite hostels (out of well over 25 hostels I've stayed in). I'm already excited about my next visit! Love you guys!

It was a pleasure staying at The Pickled Frog. The moment I entered the hostel it found myself in a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The staff is just amazing, they are trying to help all the time and are just cool and chilled people who try to make the impossible possible. Furthermore, the hostel is close to everything. A big plus are the free shuttle buses. The rooms are a bit small, but ok. This is just complaining on a real high level ;) I would definitely recommend The Pickled Frog!
