The friendly staff and the excellent location provided good value for money. The facilities are a little basic and the showers and toilets need an overhaul. Enjoyed the company and atmosphere

I really loved this hostel but it could be so much better if they invested in a better kitchen. Since there was only one sink people would give up on doing their dishes because of the queue so it was always really dirty, and the hot plates were also very annoying because they didn't work unless something heavy was on them and half the pots were not heavy enough to activate them! i had to go through 3 before getting one to work. Other than that it was really a great hostel!

This is a genuinely lovely hostel. There are enough common areas that its near impossible not to meet other friendly backpackers looking to take a road trip around the Island. Jimmy and Emma (and all the staff actually) are incredibly accommodating and have so much information about the Island that they clearly (and quite understandably)love. It's clean, well run and has everything you need. They even offer a free trip to Mount Wellington... I think Ill be here for a little while yet!

Very friendly welcome and always offered a smile. Great little bar selling cheap drinks, always a bonus. And only a short walk to all the action by the harbour.

A great place to meet new people, it has a nice atmosphere. It is a bit noisy and the cleaning could be better. But the location is good, just a few blocks from everything and the staff was very helpful with everything i needed. I will stay there again.

This place is beat-up and tired. That said, if u r looking for a quick cheap flop, this is it!! The staff are spot on and kind of make up for the dingy digs

It was my first experience in a backpakers hostel and I was a little bit scared about the safety but it is really well organised and they have a locked room. I really enjoyed my stay there, great staff, great ambiance and every night someone cleans the kitchen. Defenitly coming back to this hostel.

An extremely disappointing hostel. A dirty place with rude staff. The sheets were taken off my bed after the first night of three and by the time I came home the office was closed. A rude female staff member then begrudgingly gave me a sheet. There are about 8 parking spaces for a huge hostel. The bathrooms were dirty. I cannot understand how this hostel would ever get a 86% rating. Disgraceful.

Excellent hostel, nice decoration, comfortable common areas, friendly staff. The reason why I changed hostel is because I need internet for blogging etc and here they have only 30 min free wifi per day.

Not the worst hostel I have been to but disappointing. Rooms seem a prison: extra small and face a wall and, worse, others! Super noisy so it's almost impossible to sleep. Toilets ok (there was quite a big leak and it lasted for 3 days!). Showers are made by corrugated iron, not the best you can find. Staff was not too friendly with me, not too grumpy as well but it was a busy week-end. Location is really good. Quite cheap but you pay what you get. Overall I wouldn't stay here again.

Loved the communal areas. It's a chilled out pub kind of vibe rather than crazy nightclub, which was good since our dorm was right next door to the lounge. Bit inconvenient to have to walk all the way through the communal area to get to the bathroom though. Other than that, decent facilities and friendly service - would recommend.

Rooms were almost worst I have stayed in. Paid for a 3 bedroom dorm and ended up in what can only be described as a small prison cell. Window faced in on a brick wall and other rooms - it was dark - and you could barely fit 3 people in there. Better off paying less money for a bigger dorm and better room. Staff were exceptionally friendly, resourceful, and helpful - this was a nice plus.

I highly appreciate the team there, especially Jimmy and Emma. They are very passionate, energentic and caring. The facilities might not as good as 5-stars hotel but the services they provided, for sure, are better than lots of world-class hotels. Keep the good works.

I loved this place. I like smaller and Homey Hostels, this is the one. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. The bathrooms downstairs are not always that clean, but the one upstairs are. I had a cold shower twice......
