This hostel suffers from the same problem as so many others in ski towns: The crowd at the hostel is made up mostly of psuedo-locals (ie. ski hill lifties and the like) who are living/working in town on visas for the year. Not a problem in itself, but it created a very "closed" atmosphere where people aren't really looking to meet anyone new or be overly social beyond their already established friends. In short, it lacks that open social, backpacker vibe but is still a nice facility.

A great place. Pretty quiet in the off season. Bar down stairs is awesome and drink prices are bloody decent.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Quiet in the off season. Great location. Beds weren't the most comfortable, but did the job well. Could hear the bar music from downstairs faintly through the walls/floor. Clean, organized, hospitable. Would definitely return.

Second time at the raging elk and while it's certainly not fancy, it's clean, welcoming, within my meager budget and the staff are phenomenal! Will definitely be coming back again :-)
