The staff is really helpful and friendly all the time. The rooms are nice and offer enough space. The daily pancake breakfast is awesome!

Hostel was a bit old. Floors were really noisy when people were walking around at all hours of the night. Bathrooms were horrible! terrible smell and hardly ever clean. Also, no sinks outside of shower room so if you went to the toilet and all showers were taken - no where to wash your hands. There was a free BBQ on friday night at 7:30.... we arrive at 7:45 and all food was gone. Not enough made to serve everyone.

One of the worst places I've stayed in. Staff very unhelpful, people were cliquey, unclean rooms and common areas. simply awful.

Great hostel with very friendly staff. Pancake breakfast was awesome. I only stayed for one night, but it felt like a place where you can find that family feeling. Pub downstairs was full on a Sunday night :) yet when I went to bed at 1:30 you couldn't hear a sound coming from it!

Club underneath room with walls vibrating until the wee morning hours=not so cool. Especially after paying quite a lot for our stay. Spreading people's hair, body fluids and other questionable things on the bathroom floor with a filthy mop does not qualify as cleaning. Bloody fingerprints under toilet roll holder throughout our stay, come on!

A good hostel overall. Facilities are clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Has a very social atmosphere. Location is a bit far from the CBD, especially for first-time visitors to Melbourne.

The hostel was ok. It had a good, fun atmosphere, but the beds were terribly uncomfortable, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the rooms did not have air conditioning. My recommendation is, if you are looking for a place to stay in the summer months, do not stay here, as the rooms were completely miserable in the summer heat (Habitat HQ just down the road has AC and isn't much more expensive)). We even used wet towels as blankets. Otherwise, the place was fine.

Only thing missing is Air Conditioning, but we just happened to be there on a 40 degree Celsius heat wave.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff a different arranged night out for most days of the week, lots of places to hang out and close to all local bars & shops plus tram stop outside the door. will definately be back!

This place was amazing. Everyone is so helpful, the staff especially, are awesome! I have never been somewhere so far from home that made me feel so at home. Would come again, and would reccommend to ANYONE travelling in Melbourne (St. Kilda).

I really enjoyed my stay here. Nice rooms, decent bathrooms, great staff, my roommates were awesome... lots to recommend it. Places to eat, the beach, St Kilda and Chapel Street are within walking distance and there's a tram stop at the door and another one a block away. It's a bit of a party hostel though so if you're not down with that I recommend earplugs.

Had a briliant stay. One of my favourite hostel's in Oz. Really great place to meet people and very social atmosphere. Bedrooms and bathrooms really clean and comfortable. Loved the free wifi and the very tasty free pancake breakfast every morning. Will be back and can definately recommend. Thanks

Many residents actually live in the hostel, which means that the common room areas can become quite "cliquey" with people who live together.

Lovely staff - all very helpful! Good sized room and good location. I think it should be made a bit clearer that the place really is full of youths and if you are a bit older (I am the grand age of 28) it might be a bit annoying listening to music all night and watching the great unwashed swig wine out of 4 litre bottles all day. The pancakes in the morning are a nice touch and for people looking to party and meet other travellers this place would be really good!

The Ritz is fantastic if you want to party, every nights party night! We met a few people, and it's only a ten minute walk to the beach, past a bottle shop ;) which was great. Love the choc chip pancakes every mornin,. Thanks Tracey!! The place is Quite secure, our dorm room didn't lock but felt quite safe. The downstairs door was locked at 8pm only accessed with a code given to guests. It does get quite loud in the evenings but Not always. Its on a main road so that's more why you get woken up.

Don't expect something fancy! We had a double room, which was basic but ok. The bathroom facilities are really clean. But with cigarette butts on the ground and garbage under our bed, there was still improvement for our room. The hostel is a little bit out of the city, but you can use the tram which takes you in 20 minutes into the centre.
