The bad: not many common areas, wifi only works in a small area where there's not enough places to sit for everyone, they close this area at 23:00, even if you're quite you can't stay there, staff is rude.. Overpriced, no breakfast, only coffee.. The good: nice tarrece area with good views of the city, clean and good beds..

Can be a little noisy on a Friday night but fun and friendly, really helpful staff and a fun vibe.

I enjoyed my 5 nights at the Garden. I was only planning on being there 2-3 nights but ended up doing more tours out of there. The travel agency on the lower level of the hostel is very easy to work with, highly recommend them. The rooftop terrace was a great place to meet people from everywhere. I'm still meeting up with people I met last week in other places I'm going. Proximity is good, or $4 cab ride to the Mariscal district The only negative were the cold showers. Great place though.

Our first hostel of this adventure. Geared towards a social crowd. Lots of interaction. Good reasonable meals. Our room lacked a window. Room D3

Stayed in the double room with bathroom included. Great value for money and very good location. Best part of the hostel is the roof top terrace with an awesome view of the city. Staff is great and provide breakfast and dinner per request. Loved this hostel and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the Secret Garden for a few nights. We had a double room which was downstairs. The problem was that it is right next to the gate where everyone walks in and out. So it was super loud at night.

Loved the music you guys were playing every night on the terrace. You should really consider creating a playlist on spotify so people can follow you :)

The view from the bar is what makes this hostel special and worth staying at. Other good points are the comfy beds, lights at bed spaces, good breakfast (costs extra) great English speaking reception staff and great travel agents. Bad parts were the cleaner noisily coming in at 7.59 am, the night guard coming into the dorms without knocking and no explanation why and the disorganised breakfast service ( we constantly had to go and ask for missing items, including cutlery)

This is a fun hostel with outstanding views from the rooftop terrace/ restaurants. Breakfast and dinner is offered at reasonable prices with coffee and tea free all day. Best showers are on the 2 nd floor. The staff is lively and helpful. There are a lot of stairs, so if this is a problem for you, this is not the place for you. For me, the hike to the terrace was worth it. Loved the Secret Garden. Great location for viewing the historic center.

Nice room with two single beds and in room toilet. Only had to share the shower. Good value for the money. Room is a bit noisy sec to proximity to stairway and echo in the hallway but no complaints. Still worth it!

Really nice place in a good location and an awesome view from the terrace. Good breakfast (USD2.50) and they also serves a tasty dinner every night (USD4-5). There could be a few more toilets but plenty of showers.

Nice hostel, although the stairs to get anywhere do get annoying! Unbelievable view from the roof top bar/restaurant. I would suggest the small Italian turning left out of the hostel and about 20m down the hill. Very quite hostel.

This is a nice hostel and attracts many travellers so is good to meet people, but one thing which isn't made clear is that all common areas are closed at 11pm. There is nowhere to socialise in the hostel after this time and everyone is either told to go out or go to their rooms.

10:30 check out is too early and time restrictions for the usage of the terrace are (even during the weekend) too strict

Owner Comment (Hide)
Checkout time is 10.30am, but guests are welcome to leave bags in our free baggage storage, and hang around all day if they wish. Guests who have checked out can stil enjoy the free high speed wifi and free tea & freshly brewed coffee. We'll even lend you a towel if you wish to take a shower later in the day eg before catching a night bus/flight. Our terrace restaurant/bar closes at 11pm - there are usually a lot of guests sleeping after this time who appreciate the place being nice and quiet.

The first two nights we had a double room in the basement. This room was really cold, dark and humid (the towels didnt dry and it smelled funny). So we changed into a dorm one floor above for half the price and this one was much better! It had six nice beds, a window, was close to the showers and was warmer at night.

Great hostel that really took care of its travellers. The rooftop terrace is beautiful, and the hostel really went out of its way to make sure everyone felt welcome (including free maps, allowing you to use the wifi/lounge area even after you've checked out and offering great tour advice). As a first time solo traveller, I really appreciated the staff going out of their way to pair me up with fellow travellers who had made similar travel plans for the next day, which helped us save money!!
