The hostel is loqated in the historical area in a nice place. Walking distance from every thing we needed. The rooftop is great (view and atmosphere) and the stuff is realy helpful.

The roof top terrace was the icing on the cake. How fun to have such a grand view without the price tag to go with it. There are certified taxis arranged by the The Secret Garden, everything worked, especially the WiFi. A little noisy but it wouldn't stop me from returning. Watch out for the 5 flights of stairs and 9,000 feet altitude.

I loved this hostel. The best thing about it were the staff. The permanent staff were very helpful, caring and knowledgeable about the city and activities to do. The volunteer staff members were also really cool as well. They made things run even smoother and were very friendly and welcoming.

Great hostel with a social atmosphere. The dinners on the rooftop terrace are a great way to meet other travellers.

The friendly vibe is what made me feel at home. A young man at the reception helped carry our luggage up the five floors to our rooms (having just arrived at the 9,000 feet altitude, it was a blessing). Information was readily shared and a Secret Garden "approved" taxi to go about town was greatly appreciated. Great view off the dining terrance! Good job Secret Garden!

The rooftop restaurant/bar/social gathering spot is its main attraction. With fantastic views of Quito I enjoyed the company of backpackers from all over the world.

Best hostel along my Latin American trip! Especially the rooftop terrace with beautiful view with an atmosphere that makes it easy to meet new travel friends. Still really calm at night so that you get at good sleep. Great staff always available to give information and help out. Clean, good beds, lockers and power outlets, Have to pay for breakfast but there are really cheap places down the street. Thank you!

Great rooftop terrace Great staff, helpful and kind Common areas close too early and there is nothing available walking distance to do in the evening

good location in old town. the roof top is amazing and just perfect to meet people. also during the day there is a nice atmosphere if you just want to chill. good drinking deals and daily meal is good as well. downstairs at the tourist agency you can book tours for good value. we went to cotopaxi and it was definitely worth it!

I do not recommend staying here. The staff was very unwelcoming upon arrival. Did not offer breakfast when it was supposed to be included. The bed were very uncomfortable. The floor in the room was breaking. The bathrooms smelt horrible and were not clean. I cannot speak for the hot water as I chose not to shower due to the uncleanliness and the shower head hanging by wires. The common space was very small and little interaction. Needless to stay we found a better hostel for the same price.

Nice hostel with a 5th floor terrace (stairs are a bit of a killer) that has a great view of the old city. Location is ok, but airport and bus terminals are not nearby, you use taxi's. Good travel service on main floor w awesome staff. Some negatives, no locks on dorm doors, some of the lockers were broken; lack of bathrooms/showers; bar/common area was shut down at 11pm even if you're being quiet; bar prices are on the high side. Fixed fare taxi's outside cost more than metered ones.

A nice concept and generally good. The terrace has an amazing view and is great for meeting people. Relies on volunteers too much and means the service is inconsistent. We had a terrible evening with the evening meal at the hostel, the end result was that we were told we wouldn't be charged for two meals but hey presto when we came to check out the meals were on our bill and the individual on the counter didn't believe my story and the staff that were on that night were 'unavailable' :(

We stayed here in January/February, we had a lovely dorm, bit of a trek to get to the dorm, up and down stairs, bit like a labyrinth. It's also quite annoying that the reception is up at the rooftop bar which is 5 floors up or something. Lovely views from the rooftop bar, loved the ponchos too. Breakfast was ok, bit pricey for what you get, great little outlets in the bar for charging too.

The Secret garden is for sure a great choice for Quito. Top location, close to everything, great terrasse with a 1 million $ view. One thing very nice, the wi-fi is not available on the terrasse, you just have to exchange with people instead of your phone. Hasta pronto Secret Garden!

The bad: not many common areas, wifi only works in a small area where there's not enough places to sit for everyone, they close this area at 23:00, even if you're quite you can't stay there, staff is rude.. Overpriced, no breakfast, only coffee.. The good: nice tarrece area with good views of the city, clean and good beds..

Can be a little noisy on a Friday night but fun and friendly, really helpful staff and a fun vibe.
