Not so much a backpackers hostel. Its full of people who are living here long term, very unfriendly and un accommodating. Full of thieves... Very dirty lazy people not cleaning after themselves. constant piles of dirty plates pots and pans. Have to wash every thing you want to use because its always dirty after being left by the previous user. People smoking cigarets and dope inside the hostel. Would warn anyone thinking about coming here not to waste their money.

PLEASE READ!!! Do NOT stay here, it is the worst hostel I've ever encountered in my life. We paid for a double room but got a twin, which was tiny. It only had a sheet on the bed and a scruffy blanket. It had bars on the window and the floor was filthy. Awful! There's an Internet room outside the bedrooms so people stay up talking late. Staff was so rude, horrible creepy man. Family hostel with a baby crying at 6.30 in the morning. STAY AWAY, owners are liars and cheats!

The only nice thing I can say about the Shiralee is it was quiet. However my dorm was messy and run-down. I've stayed in a couple of sub-standard hostels in Perth but this is certainly the worst I've stayed in.

Possibly one of the most decrepit and dirty places, I have ever stayed in (including visits to asia). However staff were nice and the hostel is actually good fun.

Not as bad as other reviews make out. However, our room had been double booked but the lady at reception was apologetic and offered to call other hostels but there was no room so we had to take a dorm. Bathrooms as clean but the kitchen is filthy and the dorm rooms are like squats. Prepare yourself for cockroaches but its certainly not the worst place in Perth!

Homely feel. Full of Brit's. rooms are clean and tidy, beds comfy and room had a ceiling fan which was more than we got in over hostels. NO FREE PARKING , it was advertised on hostelworld and was te reason we chose this hostel.

Very dirty and smelly! We took a room just for us, the floor was dirty, the linen has already been used. The floor of the kitchen has not been cleaned in 2 days. Cheese and salad on the floor and nobody worried about it! No light in the room, how can this be possible ?! No dishes, you have to bring your own... Empty beer botles lying everywhere in the hostel...
