The Silk Road Guesthouse is a smaller hostel. Alex was a gracious and helpful host, explaining what Carnevale is about, where to go, and how to get there. The free breakfast was a great bonus. The hostel is nearby the Guggenheim, the Santa Maria della Salute church, and a cheap, delicious takeaway pasta place called Venice Pasta Academy. Gorgeous view out the four-bed room window. Very clean. Each bed has a nightstand/locker w/ a key. Overall, couldn't have been better.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Only downside is the common/sitting area isn't heated. But we hung out in our room with a view of the water

Alex was a fantastic host, very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Was a short walk from all of the main attractions and was good not having to pay the extortionate vaporetto prices! Whilst the hostel is small, it was nice only having four per room and I had a great night in with my roommates. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

Stayed at this hostel twice and would stay a third time if I ever go back to Venice! Amazing view of the water from the 4 bed dorm. Really spacious and brand new room for the Double Private! Great atmosphere .. Small size means you get to know the other travellers well :) Locker was amazing, had a whole lockable cupboard for all my stuff! The location is cool as is slightly off the tourist path but close enough to the main attractions. And of course, great friendly staff!! Stay at the Silk Road!

Good hostel. Nice kitchen though the guests are allowed to use after 18:00.

It's a really nice place about a 15 minute walk from San Marco, where everything is. Also having only one bathroom sometimes you have to wait a long time. The owner was away but the guy looking after the place was great.

I really liked staying at this house turned into hostel I think. Hostel is clean and kind staff ( pesh, if I'm not wrong). Hostel and room looking towards the waters was amazing! Breakfast was included which was big plus. I would recommend any one like simple hostel with amazing view! But wouldn't be able to meet many people here, that would be minor drawback, otherwise it s great stay!

My stay was very, very comfortable and enjoyable. The Silk Road is located very close to the Accademia Bridge and nearby two Waterbus stations - making any part of Venice easily reachable. Rooms were very spacious, kitchen was well accomodated, bathrooms were always clean, and staff was truly helpful! Highly recommended!

I would describe Silk Road as a guest house rather than a hostel. It is basic but adequate. Pros: Wifi 4 beds to a dorm - keeps it quieter than some places Locker to store valuables Small kitchen you can use after 6pm Cons: Breakfast was not appetizing (cheap bread and chocolate croissants) Could have been cleaner - often found dust on my clothes when going in my suitcase under the bed Can only use the kitchen after 6pm

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Silk Room. Great place to stay! The room I was in didn't lock, but there were small lockable cabinets in the room for valuables. Over 1km from the train station, which feels a long way with luggage over many bridges with stairs. Beautiful view! The staff were lovely - only too happy to help! There weren't many guests when I was there, and not much common space for meeting others. Facilities were good. Wifi was good. Suggestion: use the waterbus to get here

Really enjoyed my stay at the Silk Road! Alex is an excellent host and gave me a map and went through the main points of interest! Very helpful. He's also an amazing photographer so it was a treat to see his photos on display around the property. The location is not in a busy area but nicely situated walking distance from more busy/touristy spots. There is not much common space to hangout but great place to sleep at night. Felt very safe.

could use better staff presence, but staff was very friendly and helpful when they were around. it feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hostel

There aren't very many hostels or affordable places to stay in Venice but the Silk Road was affordable and a very nice place to stay. I loved that there weren't bunkbeds, and there was breakfast every morning. Alex, the main worker there was really nice and helpful. The only thing that was a pain was that there was only one bathroom on each floor. In the mornings it was really hard to even brush your teeth, let alone anything else, because people were fighting over/ waiting for the bathroom.

The location is about a 20min walk from train station or about 18min bus taxi? It's actually on the island and next to a grocery store, you can use the kitchen too cook. One of the showers leaked, and the 1st floor dorm room doesn't lock. You are given small lockers and chain locks for those lockers. The person running the facility is very nice, and we get free breakfast which was one way I got to meet people. It was a pleasant experience and the dorms had a nice view.

Great place to stay. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Alex was very friendly and informative about Venice. Definitely worth staying at The Silk Road!

Beautifull place, involved host, on a walking distance of most 'you should visit' places (so you don't have to take the rather expensive vaparetto all the time), decent breakfast (good thing with all that walking ;-) - especially liked the fruit), the kitchen is not only the place where you can cook but also a nice place to meet other guests. Just 1 minor thing: I would clean the bed- and bathroom floor more often.

This is a home-like warm hostel. The location is good, right in front of water bus station. It's also easy to access to other visit points by walk. The owner, Alex is really nice and talented. I met a lot of good friends and cool people in the stay. And two most important thing: HOT WATER & AMAZING PILLOW!!
