lovely location, homely environment - only 10 ppl max ever staying, and the owner alex is very friendly & welcoming to all his guests. for venice the price is very good considering the small boutique scale of the place. breakfast is included but fairly basic - i mostly went out & enjoyed some lovely pasticceria. to note: doors to the multi-bed rooms aren't lockable & lockers can only fit smaller backpacks (or use them for your impt things) but i didn't feel like my stuff was vulnerable.
Alex was a fantastic host and the location of his hostel was incredible. I could sit up in my bed and look out the window at the canal (very spacious 4-person room). On my first night at the hostel, I asked Alex if he could recommend a place to go for a drink that evening. Instead, he said, "Let's get everyone together tonight! We'll go to the grocery store and get some food to bring back here, have some drinks, and go out for a drink afterwards!" He made it happen and we had a great time.
Silk Road was a wonderful place to stay! We had some trouble finding the place when we first arrived but once we Found it Alex welcomed us with open arms and made us feel very welcomed! Rooms were very clean and beautiful, loved falling asleep to the sound of waves!! Would definitely recommend staying here, location was great!
Alex is a fantastic host, always willing to suggest the best places to visit and help with any queries. Rooms are very spacious and clean, with huge lockers and beautiful big windows overlooking the water. Perfect location. Breakfast is very generous and delicious, people in the hostel were so kind.
Unwillingness of staff. The worst that will not let us store our bags for 2 hours had to walk with luggage throughout Venice.
The view from the room onto the lagoon was amazing. Everything else good. Considering most other options in Venice, this place is like sent from heaven.
Highly recommend. Light, airy, spacious room and friendly, helpful staff. Great location, handy for exploring but away from most of the hustle and bustle.
It is about a 10 minute walk from the train station to the hostel! I enjoyed it because it was kind of away from all of the tourist locations. The hostel is on the canal so it was an amazing view. Alex was very helpful and provided us with a city map and told us where to go and what to see as well as where we should go out for food and drinks. I would definitely return to this hostel if I was to return to Venice!
Great hostel, the perfect place to spend your time in Venice.
This is a great place to stay in Venice. The rooms are spotless, and with a view of the river. There is a kitchen you can cook in, the showers are nice and it is in an easy location. The only thing is there is no social aspect to the hostel so it's not so great for solo travellers.
It's a very nice experience with Alex. He is really nice and helpful with all the things. I really enjoy the stay there. I hope I can spend more time in Venecia!
Absolutely amazing. Less of a hostel, more like being welcomed into a home for a couple of days.
Amazing friendly staff, very small hostel so don't expect a big common area etc. Perfect for a short stay in venice. The location is literally perfect, easy to get to all the main areas and to take the ferry/boat etc. Very reasonable price for Venice and very clean/modern/safe. Didn't feel like a hostel, felt like a small hotel.
Silk Road was the best hostel I have ever stayed at. Alex was a great host! Very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
I loved this place. It felt more like your own home. Very cute and cozy. The owner's are awesome. Very helpful and kind. I would recommend this place to everyone visiting Venice. Great value for the money.
The Silk Road was more of a guest house than a hostel. There wasn't really a hostel atmosphere which can be important if you're travelling alone. However, everything else was great. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, there was no wait for the bathroom. Breakfast was included in the price and the location was easy walking distance to everything you want to see in Venice. Importantly, Alex and the other staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful.
This was an excellent place to stay. It had a beautiful view and right off the ferry line. Easy to walk around the city and find your way back.
“I was a solo traveller. It was a nice place by the canal. Great to just sit and enjoy the view. A water bus stop was 1min walk from the place so that was good. If you're looking to meet new people, wouldn't really recommend this place. There aren't any common areas so any interaction you get is with people in the same dorm as you. The dorm and toilet was clean. Breakfast is free but there wasn't much variety. Thankful to Alex for walking out to pick me up when I had trouble finding the place.”
