Terrible!!! When we arrived, the owner told us that our room is just being cleaned. But watching her actions and asking other Chinese customers made us realize that she was lying, and there are no rooms available, because the rooms were overbooked at a higher price to someone else. We couldn't find another hostel by ourselves because it was a national holiday and all the hostels were full. Only after about 2 hours and a bit of yelling she finally transferred us to another hostel.
To be fair It was gold week, but even so, perhaps more so, we expected to have the room that we had booked ten days beforehand. Arriving after a 1 hour hike from the bus station (literally hiking the side of the river and up a huge hill) with our backpacks we were very disappointed to discover that we didn't have a room at all!! Manager is lovely though this doesn't feel like a well run business. Beds are hard. Food is good, late to arrive. Generally disorganised. Sad because could be awesome.
The walk from the bus station was a 40 minute walk from the bus station and the hostel is around a 30 minute walk from resturants or shops, making the Sleepy Teeppy a very inconvienient choice for backpackers. We stayed in two different rooms, so in this review I tried to average the ratings of both. The double was very nice and clean, but the teepee was quite the opposite. Spiders the size of my hand in the bathroom. Teepee had no secure door and was open to insects and had no AC.
