The room was clean and the bed comfortable.Mostly the low review is for the state of the kitchens. There are 2 kitchens, went to put a bag of food in the downstairs kitchen the the fridge was disgusting with spilt milk all over it (this was finally cleaned on the Friday) Went to upstairs kitchen instead, floors sticky, toaster/mircowave didnt work. 2 rings out of 4 gave off some heat but not enough to even simmer water!! dont stay here if you plan to cook for yourself and keep costs down!!

About the staff just one person was so impolite, but the rest was very friendly. Clean was poor they just change the sheets when there is a new guest but the carpet into the rooms was never cleaned during my time there, also there are cockroach and you have to paid separetely the internet. In my first day 5 people slept unto my room and it supposed to be for 4 people.

Good cheap accommodation nice and central, but the shower could have done with a clean with some bleach. The mould was a bit off-putting.

Group bathrooms were pretty gross at times. Smokers were using the toliets as a smoking area. There wasn't a women's restroom on one floor, only a mens room and a group restroom, which cause problems when women went in there to shower and guys would come in. Not the quietest place, but that's be be expected being above a bar, I guess.

Great hostel. Clean and comfortable beds. Kitchens could do with lots more attention though - very grubby & it would be nice to have a few more communal items and perhaps a list on the wall detailing what is communal. New oven upstairs would also be a bonus.

First of all, I must say that the staff was friendly!!!!! But felt gross from the time we stepped inside. The room was dirty when I checked in and the maid came to change the sheets, didn't clean the room and bathroom at all. There was a giant pee stain on the comforter. I think nobody have cleaned the bathroom in a long time (shower walls are stained). Also I want to mention that during my stay in this hotel (4 days) nobody came to my room to clean it.

It's cheap and has a great location. Very old place, so the floors creak and stuff. Old carpets are dirty

There are signs to say no permanent residents, but there are a few of them - cockroaches! Didnt see any in rooms but a few in the ahlls, bathrooms and kitchen. Need to invest in some repellents. Staff were good, particularly a girl who called our airport shuttle transfer when they never turned up. Location is ideal.5 mins to kings cross, 15-20 to harbour. Bondi bus stop only 5 mins walk but best get this early as the buses get full and start not stopping.

The bathroom is leading to the staircase and everytime someone opend the door, everybody could look inside - absolutely unacceptable. Lockers in our room were broken. Kitchen was rundown, but not really dirty. Beds were comfy and location good. Staff was very nice and helpful all the time. 25 Dollar p.P. in a 3-bed-dorm is a good price for Sydney, so if you just want a place to sleep for a couple of days, it's a nice bargain.

I think that the hostel has a great location and the staff is very friendly. But the condition of this hostel is poor. I don't mind living in an old hostel, but the toilets and showers could use some rebuilding. But very friendly staff, I would come again.

The dorm I stayed at was the most unclean room I have ever stayed at. The staff seemed more intrested in the bar then the rooms. The location was great! And it was cheap, so if you don`t mind mess, go go go!

It was fairly good, clean, nothing particularly negative to report except that my girlfriend and I had to stay in different dorms (could be thought of as a positive!).

I travel alot and wasn't expecting anything perfect, but a couple of things made me mark it down. Not enough lockers in my room, dirty bathrooms with not enough toilet paper, pigeons kept on flying into the kitchen, and security wasn't great. Somebody who wasn't booked into the room kept on sleeping on the floor of my dorm. Room terrace is nice but no indoor common room, wifi didn't work. Location good, halfway between CBD and Kings Cross. Staff nice and good place to meet people.
