They charged more for the second night without giving a reason. A few kilometers from the city center but easy to get here with tram. Very good WiFi

The Student Hostel had a great vibe. Younger crowd, had pool and ping pong along with a big lounge area. Also had a full bar and food/restaurant area which was very nice. My only complaint is that I felt the location was a little bit of away from everything. We rented bikes from the hostel which was convenient and it was about a 10-15 ride into the "city" area. Other than that the staff was very nice and the hostel was great! Would come back!

Huge place, conveniently located next to a metro station, about 20 mins to Centraal Station. Clean and comfortable room. The Kitchen. You HAVE to eat at The Kitchen. The meatball pasta is THE BOMB.

Very very nice place. Like the Hilton for college kids. Very modern. Nice bar with food. Probably not the easiest place to meet new people but it is more on the hotel side. TV didn't work but super good wifi, which is more important. Be aware of the location.

Lovely spot!

If you don't mind a 20 min tram ride, then it's a nice hostel with very friendly staff (but not giving away much information). Single rooms are very basic. Do not expect to pay upon arrival, it is done, via your bank card, a day before you get to the hostel. Strange experience! The "rail house" is probably named after the noise you hear as soon as 6AM (train, annoucements, ...). There is a restaurant, a gym... Everything you need if you don't want to go sightseeing.

Our stay at the Student Hotel in Amsterdam was absolutely perfect. The hotel, though not centrally located, is very close to both a metro station and a tram station. We had a private room and were extremely happy with the room and its cost. The facilities were great and the whole place felt very campus-like. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

The Student Hotel was such a super cool place to stay. The only problem is that it's about 20-30 minutes tram ride to the city. But the metro is just outside the hotel and the tram line is just around the corner! The cafe/restaurant have awesome food and really well priced! The room was basic but had everything you need. The shower was a little crazy, wetting the entire bathroom but apart from that everything was perfect! Highly recommend to stay here.

Very nice place, located 10 mins away from the city, but the metro is right out side. The only problem i had was canceling the last day. I bought the extra protection, and informed the check in at check in that i only planned to stay one night, not to and they basically said i was screwed. I like the hotel, i just didn't like how if i had a problem i had to go threw hostel world and it couldn't be taking care of. don't know if ill book through hostel world again. But the stay was great&clean.

I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. They had the most amazing facilities and security, it was a bit far away but you could take a tram for 2.90€ and it would get you to the city center in about 10 minutes.

Nice hostel but far from the downtown. Also they only clean the room every second day and change the sheets every fourth day for environmental reasons which is nice but when your garbage gets full and your room starts to smell it's not so nice. They also don't take cash anywhere in the hostel, not even the restaurant! But very nice looking hostel, very modern and good facilities.

really wonderful- very clean, spacious... they discuss recycling- but they have no recycling facilities in the cafeteria for bottles etc??? that was disapointing... and front desk promised me a wake up call- which did not come...

No ac. Not a responsive staff. Shower didn't work properly. I alerted the staff however nothing was done to resolve the problem. Had to shower in my brothers room down the hall. Very inconvenient.

My Friend and I had a fantastic stay at the Student Hotel Amsterdam West. The staff was friendly and helpful, the hostel was clean, and rooms/bathrooms were a good size for 2 people. It was really easy to get around on Amsterdam's tram/train system, so that was a definite plus. I wish the kitchen stayed open longer or that there was more reliable way to get food delivered, but other than that the stay was great!

Majority of staff were really friendly and helpful, bathroom was nice but rooms are basic and kitchen facilities are only available if your stay is more than two weeks which we didn't know before we arrived. Location is poor (there is nothing around the hotel) but is very well connected to the city centre and the airport. If you're happy to eat out everyday and use public transport you'll like this hotel.

Hi! Thanks for your review and the 4 stars! It’s good to know that you thought our staff were very friendly and helpful. The shared kitchen facilities are indeed only available if you book to stay here for two weeks or longer. Otherwise, booking a suite which has a private kitchen is always a possibility for guests. Another option is our onsite bar/restaurant for small bites, warm dinners or a late beer. We appreciate your review and would be happy to have you again! Carter Jones, Manager

This may sound strange and perhaps silly for someone who hasn't stayed at the hotel. The doors on the room although really heavy (so I assumed they would) did not shut all the way on their own when you left the room. With a normal house door you obviously lock it so you know it's shut, but as we left the room I thought the door would shut behind me. I came back after breakfast to find it was not fully shut.
