Everything was perfect but a smell of weed coming through the air conditioning. Not everybody comes to Amsterdam for that.
I liked the room and the hotel, it looks like a student accommodation (I had a single room, with my own bathroom, a big bed, bookshelves and desk), it was a bit dusty, but overall nice and clean. The only thing I wasn't happy with is that they don't accept cash, not even in the bar and I had to use my UK card even for a coffee. It's just next to the metro 50 station (2 stops to go to Sloterdijk, then one stop with a train to Amsterdam Central) and to bus and tram stops.

I loved this place!!!!!! Such a beautiful clean hotel for such a reasonable price. Staff are friendly, food in the reasturamt was good, it was close to the tram, and you could rent bikes which was so awesome!
hotel is in a very obscure location. couldn't even get to it by metro which is the main way there. didn't actually stay there.
Fantastic hostel. Although not in the center of Amsterdam it is much better for it. The location is quiet and the center can be reached very quickly by taking the number 12 tram. Defiantly somewhere I would stay again.
Very clean, the reception members are kind.the double room is wonderful clean ,but there is a little pity that we can't use the kitchen and microwave due to our one night stay.
If you like nice shiny things, stay here. Other than that you will be annoyed/ disappointed. You have to pay for everything by card. like every separate transaction. Like just for juice or a bike rental. No cash. Staff were like crazy rude. Theres a strict no smoking policy, yet all the staff were smoking their brains out.
The Student Hotel was a great place to stay while we were in Amsterdam. The location is very close to the city by bike, and is right next to the tram/metro station. Tram 13 will take you right to Amsterdam Centraal. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the food was tasty and decently priced. The bike rentals were convenient and inexpensive. The only downside is that the private kitchens are only offered to those with extended stays. Other than that, we very much enjoyed our stay!
The student Hotel is an excellent brand providing a great service. Their staff are a delight to deal with and are always willing to help. The facilities were impeccable and are well complemented by their relaxed ambiance. My only issue is with he fact that the bar is 'Card only', leaving you at the perils of your banks FOREX rates. This is of course only relevant to sub-par travellers who forget their handy currency exchange card.
They charged more for the second night without giving a reason. A few kilometers from the city center but easy to get here with tram. Very good WiFi
The Student Hostel had a great vibe. Younger crowd, had pool and ping pong along with a big lounge area. Also had a full bar and food/restaurant area which was very nice. My only complaint is that I felt the location was a little bit of away from everything. We rented bikes from the hostel which was convenient and it was about a 10-15 ride into the "city" area. Other than that the staff was very nice and the hostel was great! Would come back!
Awesome time, had to knock a mark off for security because the bedroom doors do not actually close under their own weight even though they are heavy so be careful. Other than that I have no complaints, probably better than most chain hotels. P.S.: the restaurant does not take cash whatsoever.
Huge place, conveniently located next to a metro station, about 20 mins to Centraal Station. Clean and comfortable room. The Kitchen. You HAVE to eat at The Kitchen. The meatball pasta is THE BOMB.
Very very nice place. Like the Hilton for college kids. Very modern. Nice bar with food. Probably not the easiest place to meet new people but it is more on the hotel side. TV didn't work but super good wifi, which is more important. Be aware of the location.
Bike rental was great to have right at the hostel so that pick-up and return were easy and time-efficient, especially given that the hostel is 20 min from the center of Amsterdam (by bike). Just make sure you have your seat height adjusted before you leave for the day, and ask about how to use the lock if you're unsure. Price was fairly competitive too at 9 euro/day. Loved the location even though it was a bit away from everything because biking around was amazing and a very local experience.
If you don't mind a 20 min tram ride, then it's a nice hostel with very friendly staff (but not giving away much information). Single rooms are very basic. Do not expect to pay upon arrival, it is done, via your bank card, a day before you get to the hostel. Strange experience! The "rail house" is probably named after the noise you hear as soon as 6AM (train, annoucements, ...). There is a restaurant, a gym... Everything you need if you don't want to go sightseeing.
Our stay at the Student Hotel in Amsterdam was absolutely perfect. The hotel, though not centrally located, is very close to both a metro station and a tram station. We had a private room and were extremely happy with the room and its cost. The facilities were great and the whole place felt very campus-like. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
