Property Information:
The Surf Shack Bar, Grill and Hostel is located in Hengchun Town in southern Taiwan. It's a 15min drive north from the tourist town of Kenting. The Surf Shack is central to all the beaches and tourist sites in the area. We can arrange scooter rentals to get you there but you must have an international drivers license. Buses will also get you to the beaches and Kenting town cheaply and run 24/7. We also offer a 3 hour tour of the local sites including the National Forest and Lighthouse parks.
We are a western style restaurant on the first floor with 5 rooms on the second and third floors. There is a large balcony with mountain view on the 3rd floor. We also offer surf lessons, surf tours, surfboard rentals and scuba diving tours in the local tropical waters.
Room check in: Anytime after 3:00pm.(If arriving after 10:00pm please contact us to let us know when you'll be checking in.)

I can't really recommend this place since the total experience below average of the ho(s)tels I've stayed at in Taiwan (as well as worldwide). Staff was often absent or there were mandarin speaking staff only. There were no ktichen or food storing facilities. My room lacked a window and walls didn't go all the way up to the ceiling (less privacy). WiFi was on and off. BUT the Place had a good location, was cheap and had a convenient check-out. So it's NOT a place "to avoid at all cost"
