The Surf Shack Bar, Grill and Hostel Reviews

This hostel was clean and easy to use as a foreigner. The bar and restaurant (although we didn't eat there) seemed convenient and comforting for those craving Western food. However, its location in Kenting wasn't the best in comparison with so many other hostels that are right on or within walking distance of the beach.

If you are coming here for surfing, then this is definitely the location to come to as it is so central and Terry has all the gear for rent. Terry, Ee and her mum were so helpful with food, accommodation and places to visit and the venue and service was well worth the money. I even got a trip to Taidong with them which I was so grateful for as I wanted to see that part of Taiwan too. Thank you so much for a wonderful, pleasant stay.

I will be staying here again on my next visit to Kenting! EE is so helpful and nice. The food is delicious. The beds are comfy. EE and her mother een drove us in their personal cars to the nightmarket when we were unable to find a taxi. My only complaint would be that it is a little ways from the beach. Across the street is a cheap scoter rental place though. I recommend renting scooters for sure!

This hostel was great, although a little far from the beach, where we wanted to go. The room was basic, but comfortable and clean, and quite large. It was easy to find from the bus station, about a five minute walk or less. We were able to book surf lessons through the hostel, and they provided lots of information on how to get to our next destination. They drove us to the beach, so we didn't have to take the bus. The food was also excellent. We will definitely stay here again.
