The staff were absolutely amazing. Great vibe, definitely worth the 20-25 minute tram ride out there. The only downsides were really that there were no ladders on the bunk beds (although we originally were booked in the floor tent, I think something changed with our booking), and horrible security. We heard many stories of things missing in the night. Definitely BYO lock. An experience you shouldn't miss out on if you're in Munich!
I visited a week before Oktoberfest. Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic price, cool, nice people.

Very very cold inside the Tent, so it's good to bring scarf or something for the neck if you don't want to get a huge cold. They give you "mants" so that helps a lot. You pay a little amount to sleep, but after that you have to pay for every single stuff you want. Very clean toilets, and very responsible kitchen staff, even maybe too much. She should take it easy if she doesn't want to hurt herself (that's the opinion from someone that had the same way of thinking).
If you want a cheap and fun hostel, I'd definitely recommend this place. The facilities were really great, and the staff was all super friendly. It's about a 15 minute drive into the main city area. And when it's time for bed you're in a room of 100+ people, there is never a quiet moment. Those are the only two downsides. Bring ear plugs and figure out the public transportation (which is really good) and you're set!
Couldn't say anything bad about the place... amazing atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff. Showers and toilets are clean, the on-site restaurant is fairly priced and offers enough food options. The sleeping area itself is huge and packed as can be expected. Word of advice: Arrive early if you want to get a good place as the beds are first-come-first-served. (Of course, if you booked ahead, you are guaranteed to have a bed. The location of it is up for grabs though.)
Great 5-day stay at The Tent! PROS: Friendly, superbly helpful staff; Nice outside ambience, incl. the patio, fire pit, basketball, lots of outdoor seating; Close to three supermarkets; Easily accessible by tram; Cheap cafeteria/snack offerings. CONS: Lots of lockers, but not many large ones (aka low security); Small, grungy kitchen; Sheets/blankets definitely not cleaned on the regular; Not located near any lively neighborhoods/bars/restaurants. Overall, I'd recommend and definitely return!
The hostel's atmosphere was great and the staff were really helpful. However, it was very cold at night and we needed a padlock for the lockers. Would be good if they could make this clear when you book the accommodation and suggest you bring a sleeping bag outside of July/August perhaps.
Dorms in a big tent, was fine and not too bad if you look at the price. Showers clean and warm, nice breakfast cheaper than in the rest of the city. Guy in my dorm had his wallet stolen, use lockers!
Super fun, one of my favourite hostels. Location is a bit far but is right next to a tram stop so makes for easy traveling around the city. Staff are super friendly.
I had a good stay. The staff were great and it was a cool place to hang around. It was pretty cold and wet but that wasn't a problem aside from a run to the showers.
The cheapest place in Munich. The staff is really helpful and the place is amazing. The facilities are great and they even have a kitchen to cook for yourself. It's a little far for the centre but has a direct tram to the location Had a great time at the Tent!
Best hostel I've been to so far. Met so many awesome people and the vines are fantastic. The bonfire every night gets you connected to a lot of other travelers. 10/10 recommend to all young backpackers especially going alone. The beds are not the cleanest, and rather squeaky. but are worth it for this awesome place. showers have no pressure but get the job done. Great meals served every day and a wonderful, informative staff. Would stay here again before any other place!
The hostel/tent had a great atmosphere. We arrived to people hanging out around a campfire, playing darts, table tennis and drinking cheap but good beer. The hostel was a bit out of the way but public transport made this not a huge issue. Facilities were good but wifi was pretty useless, even for a hostel. It was a bit of a shame about the staff who weren't overly helpful and sometimes even completely resistant. Regardless I would stay here again but only for the atmosphere.
The beds in the large dorm are pretty dirty and the room kinda smells because there's 100 people. The blankets they give you, some of 'em smell like they're washed and some smell pretty dirty. You can always go and get new blankets which is nice! Bathrooms are very clean and nice. They serve delicious dinner for cheap and there's a camp fire around so is easy to meet people and the atmosphere's very solid!Staff're really friendly and helpful.Wifi's really bad! It's hard to get a connection!
We had a great time here. It's a 200 bed dorm so you know what to expect. Really good atmosphere and easy to meet people by the campfire. Bathroom and shower were super clean. Bed sheets and blankets were never cleaned! Location is 6km from the city but it's close to the tram line (which is expensive). Wifi was also non existent.
Amazing unique place to stay, great atmosphere, cheap cafe, comfy beds and dorm was actually really quiet. Really handy to have lockers too. However, camp fire gets put too very early, very hot in the morning and wifi didn't work at all. This was very frustrating as I had to look at buses and trains for the next day to book the next part of my journey. Not very central location wise either but easy to get to on the tram.
Will definitely stay again. It's not too far out on the tram and it was so good staying somewhere quite cold instead of a stuffy room! Especially with the temperature at 30+ degrees. The beds are basic but more than ok and comfy.
It is very cold to stay overnight inside the tent with only a single layer blanket.
Had an absolute blast and loved it! Will come again next time i visit Munich. I was wary at first in terms of security, but there were plenty of lockers big enough to fit everything! Awesome vibe- spot on. Thanks!
