Wonderful place to stay, and even the 18bed dormroom feels good to be in. The old rustique atmosphere ties neatly in with the good vibe from the staff and cool bar attached to the hostel. Recommend it to anyone )

The only thing I would suggest is that they need to change more frequently the bedspreads and sheets.

The west End Hotel is nice, good price, staff friendly and helpful. I am happy to stay there. And the location is quite near if I drop off from Hypermarket train station.

We (two of us) were told that there was plenty of space the night we stayed and so could pick any bed that wasn't made up. Unfortunately all beds seemed to be made and so we didn't know which were clean or not -- guests should be given bed numbers and that's that! Only 1 toilet for 18 people, tho 3 showers was OK. To be fair I never had to queue for loo. Very tidy hostel (except beds?) and overall enjoyed my experience. Secure keycard entry to rooms is a great plus-point.

Definetely enjoyed our stay at West End. Perfect place if you're looking for somewhere cheap and safe. Very goof value for money. Rooms were surprisingly clean, kitchen well equipped and the bar downstairs offers a nice atmosphere and cheap drinks if youre to tired or lazy to walk into town (which takes no more than 15 minutes anyway). Would not recommend the food though, but other than that very good hostel indeed!

the australian girl tending bar/ acting as receptionist was excellent. very friendly and aproachable. the hostel is clean, cheap and well placed for spending time in edinburgh or for a short stop over if you are requiring to spend a night in he city before catching an early morning flight. definitely would stay there again.

We stayed in the 18 Bed dorm. There was only one toilette for 18 people. I also would reccomend lockers for the room. The Staff is great very helpfull and always smiling!!!

For 9 pounds per night for a dorm, it was very good value, given how good the quality of the dorm was (spacious, comfortable bedding, very clean). Breakfast is a little poor value for money, but it's optional. Highly recommend

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. There was a group of 4 of us and we took the room for 4 with a private backroom. It was perfect. Very clean and good value for money, especially as it includes breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only slight drawback is that its a 15 minute walk to New Town. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Unfortunately we just stayed for one night, slept a couple of hours, but I was suprised when we arrived on a friday evening: Someone's playing guitar and singing in the bar next to the reception, Staff very frankly, it felt more like a hotal than a hostel. Excellent! Next time I go to Edinburgh I will definitely stay at the westend hostel!!!
