Great Place to stay. I stayed for 2 night but over all one of the best hostels I stayed in.

Had an amazing time at the Yak last weekend. Perfect location: literally around the corner of major nightlife and 5 minutes walk to the beautiful beach. Felt very secure as the gate is controlled by a camera and fence. The Israelian/Argentinian staff was super-friendly and participates in the social events: we played beer-pong and went out together. Atmosphere was very relaxed in the common garden where everybody gets together. All in all: very highly recommended for a great time in PdC!

This hostel has a great airconditioning in the dorms and it makes a huge difference after months of sauna-like dorms! Staff are nice, helpful & knowledgable. The dorms were clean but seemed to have a perpetual layer of sand on the floor. Very nice place to lounge around, relaxing. The only thing that was a minus was that there seems to be a HUGE amount of long-term residents who are clicky & tend to take over the public areas and dorms-as a guest for few nights, you feel very much like an intruder!

Staff were great for the duration of my stay (almost 2 weeks) and had a great time there. It is very close to the nightlife of Playa but still quiet enough to have a good nights sleep. The dorm was spacious, comfortable and kept cool by a/c. The hostel was fairly lively and is a good place to start the night, especially with their all you can drink happy hour for $4US but it depended who was there that night.

Very friendly hostel. Centrally located in Playa del Carmen. Chilled out downstairs area which is the best place for meeting people. Shared kitchens are well stocked and clean. If you are in a single room with kitchen you need to borrow utensils from the shared kitchen. It's not a party party hostel. Has a more chilled out vibe.

The best hostel i've ever been it's all I can say: pretty near to the beach and the best night clubs in Playa, security is excellent, breakfast was great and staff very helpful and friendly.

Maybe I arrived at The Yak at a bad time of week but I was disappointed to see that there was nothing organized in the evening such as drinks nights etc. Also this hostel is extremely loud - noise from the courtyard and kitchens continues throughout the night. Although the room was nice I would not recommend.

Overall experience was ok. The 2-bed room apartment was furnished with the bare minimum, we had to go back to reception to ask for sheets. We had to ask to get the room cleaned and rubbish emptied. I thought check in was disappointing, no info was given about the hostel, the town or tours available. Most staff was friendly except the girl who was there for my check out. Wifi only worked in the common space, which was full of mosquitos. Great location and I liked the waterbottle-filling option.

The Yak was a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful even though there was a language barrier sometimes. The room was big and clean with a full size bed, a couch/ bed and a small kitchen and fridge. There were no plates, or pots, or silverware which was a bummer, but you were able to get it from the other two main kitchens that were for the rest of the guests. The Yak was located near everything, small market, Walmart, and the party district. It was an awesome place!

To get your room cleaned, you need to leave your key at the receptioon, when you leave. Understandable, but unfortunately nobody told us so.

There was a used shaver and some hair in the bathroom of our private room. In Generall very nice hostel which makes party, but not too noisy so you can also sleep.

Enjoyed this hostel. It's right by the main drag in Playa del Carmen and usually has a crowd that like to party. Doubt if it's for the quiet types, but then most quiet types shouldn't be looking for a hostel in Playa. The daily happy hour from 8 until 9 (all you can drink for the equivalent of 3 or 4 dollars) is a particular highlight!

Very nice hostel in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Very helpful and friendly staff. Dorms are as basic as dorms usually are.

Excellent hostel. A little rough around the edges but the staff and chilled out, friendly vibe of the hostel more than make up for it. Good breakfast. Great events and very close to Playa nightlife. The beach is also a short walk away too. Stay at this hostel if you want to meet people.
