THE place to stay when you come to Porto, the cleanliness of the place surprised me, you feel very much at home and meet very nice and friendly people, the kitchen is nice place to cook your meals and hang out at... Maybe I had too high expectations but I'm afraid I wasn't impressed. What I look for in a hostel is: being able to sleep and being able to wash - unfortunately this wasn't the case. During the night I was woken up by the hostel's cat jumping on me (luckily I have no fears/allergies) and had trouble getting it to leave. On my floor there was only 1 bathroom with 1 toilet, 2 sinks and 2 showers. On the plus side, the location is good. The layout of the bathrooms was a bit strange but the bedrooms were large enough room for everyone and all of our bags, without tripping over each other. I had a wonderful stay at the Yellow House, Beautiful building with bags of character, super location, staff were wonderful. its the owners Saul and Anna that make this hostel really special, not only is it their hostel, but also their home, and the care that they bring to the place because of this really shows. whether it's drinking free sangria with the gorgeous Anna at dinner time- YES, FREE SANGRIA!, or dancing to tacky euro pop with Saul, (he's got the moves!!), the yellow house is the kind of place that makes travelling worthwhile. its the owners Saul and Anna that make this hostel really special, not only is it their hostel, but also their home, and the care that they bring to the place because of this really shows. whether it's drinking free sangria with the gorgeous Anna at dinner time- YES, FREE SANGRIA!, or dancing to tacky euro pop with Saul, (he's got the moves!!), the yellow house is the kind of place that makes travelling worthwhile. ...Close

we stayed there for 3 nights, and we didn't have any problems..the breakfast was excellent, the internet as well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was great, near the metro station and rua de santa catarina, all in walking distance. Very noisy, thin walls. Also it is possible to lock the bathroom door, so one person occcupies the entire bathroom (with showers, toilet sinks) in which case you have to wait long for a chance to use shower or toilet.
