Go there? NO! Good: The Bed is clean. Not much Guests, so it was quiet. (Just Friday night/Saturday morning was loud when some people came from party) I had a 4 Dorm Room, but i was alone. Free Wi-Fi in the room. Bad: Check In is at the Bar. You had to take very crazy TREPPENHAUS to the Rooms on the 2nd floor. No Kitchen, just a fridge. They do have a Playstation and TV, but the remote control is dirty, so i did not use it. Toilet is very dirty ( they told me that its getting cleaned eve

While the lack of a reception is confusing, and the initial stair well is ominous, once your upstairs and in your rooms all is forgotten I don't think I've ever stayed in such immaculate and well presented rooms, if only it had a kitchen and a cleaner common room it'd be excellent. If you popping to Newcastle for a look around I really recommend this hostel if you want clean and peace and quiet.

Nice and clean bedrooms and bathrooms, above a nice pub to if you're looking to go out for a drink ( can't hear noise from pubs when in rooms), staff really friendly and helpful, my only fault is lack of kitchen facilities but there is free wifi

I've stayed in many hostels over the last few years and the theatre lanes by far the best. The foods amazing and very well priced for the guests. The rooms are all in good condition and it's very quiet upstairs, you can't hear anything from the bar below. The entire staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's only 5 minutes from the beach and two minutes from the train station as well as having a bus shelter right outside. I would never stay anywhere else in Newcastle

I booked a bed in this hostel for last Sunday evening. So... when I arrived in Newcastlethe the hostel was closed, completely closed with a phone number to call. I called this phone number several times, I let several messages... nothing... nobody answered, nobody came... So I was in front of this hostel calling and waiting several hours for nothing. Of course nobody called back. At the end I had to do something and I found an other accomodation... I will remember this hostel for sure... !

We stayed in this hostel for 2 weeks, its a great place. The staff are brilliant and the food from the bar is yum ,the location is perfect and just across the road is the train station and bus stop .Also even though it's above a bar you don't hear any noise from downstairs,so no disturbed beauty sleep. We met loads of really friendly backpackers and the bar was a great meeting point. I would definitely stay here again and I can't wait in till the next time im in newcastle .

This hostel is fairly new in town. However, in my opinion, they were not ready to open yet. There is no cooking facility, no wifi, the house isn't nice at all - it's basically a very old Pub Hotel with multiple beds in the rooms. The staff was very helpful and the location is excellent. There's a PS2 if you like gaming..

Overall I quite liked this hostel. The private room was spacious, with high ceilings and water views. The location was fantastic - opposite Hunter Street Mall/Renew Newcastle project, next to free shuttle bus and a short walk from Darby Street. Unfortunately there was no staff/reception after working hours, no cooking facilities (not even a sink or microwave in kitchen), and unisex cubicle style showers. It would be cool if they swapped the generic abstract prints for stuff by Newcastle artists.

I was hesitant at first as you have to organize a time to check in, you cannot simply show up. But when I got inside it was really clean and comfortable. The staff were really very friendly and helpful! I enjoyed my stay there and would love to go back when it has progressed a bit more as it has only been open for a few weeks.

Clean and quiet. Staff is nice. No kitchen though, they have a backpackers special on spaghetti bolognese, which is really good. No wi-fi access. They've only just opened so I guess there are lots of improvements still to be done, but for now I don't think it's a hostel, it's more like a hotel.
