We have stayed in some fantastic hostels in NZ, but this wasn't one of them. Whilst everything looked ok at first glance we later found that the kitchen was filthy (we had to clean the grime from shelf in the fridge before we could put our food in and the floors were dirty. The bathroom was only cleaned on one occasion out of the 3 days we stayed there and there was no hand soap anywhere. In addition the people next to us walked & smoked out on the flat roof right outside our bedroom window.We have stayed in some fantastic hostels in NZ, but this wasn't one of them.
