Fabulous! The rooms were very clean, comfortable and modern. Staff were great - Taylor, the owner, sat down with me with maps to help us plan our hikes - so helpful and really appreciated that they went above& beyond! Location - out of village a bit (walkable), we liked this though - peaceful & beautiful setting! Lovely lounge to relax in. Pillows could have been better (Bit thin and flat!) but otherwise very comfy bed.

The good: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The on-site bar had a nice selection of beers. Easy access to many walking trails. The showers were excellent. The bad: The wifi was spotty in the dorm. Both the main building and dorm are locked from 10:30 - 3:30. This was annoying when I'd go for a morning hike and get back at 2:30 with plans to do things in the evening. The mixed: Far from downtown Grasmere and the lake itself.

Wifi should be strong in every room. Very good location. Road signage leading to hostel hidden in bushes. But it is just constructive criticision. Hostel is beautiful and perfectly located. Very happy to be there.

A real gem in the hills surrounded by stunning scenery. You would need a car to access easily. The Bunkhouse we stayed in had superb, clean facilities, only thing missing was a mirror in our room. Kitchen was spotless, bonus of a bar. Small evening menu available and breakfast too but we didn't sample either, cooked our own. Great place to stay as a family, can't see wild parties here!

Thank you for a great review. We do get a lot of carless travellers staying here. Public transport links are good as are walking and cycling trails linking us to other destinations within the area. For a family travelling though a car is probably mandatory :-) We do hope that you get the opportunity to stay with us again. Kind regards Taylor & Carolyn, Owners.

Nice and secluded hostel, maybe a touch more expensive than it should be, but still an excellent option in the Lake district. They were really understanding with our late arrival (after 10pm) due to bank holiday traffic. The room and the toilets were clean though the bedsheet were a bit less so. Only stayed one night so can't comment on the atmosphere. They provide a large very well equipped kitchen, which was very useful to us. Breakfast didn't sound cheap to us, so we didn't try it. Worthwhile
