Its what you think it is, but does have a pool and bunch of movies and extra information available which makes it a good little place. If traveling on a budget, definitely recommend Tiare Village.

Adrienne is really friendly and accommodating and helps with any problems you may have, including a run into town on your first day for supplies, scooter hire etc. The bungalows are really cool, though you will need to use the fans, and there can be a lot of ants - dont leave food out! Main house was a little quiet, but I was there in the off season. Swimmin pool is a blessing in tne heat, but could do with being colder! Location is good, just out of town a little way, bit close to the airport!
With some hostels you know within minutes of arriving that you`ve made a good decision. You get that sensation when you come to Tiare Village. Its a warm funky and convenient hostel, ideally located for access to Rarotonga Airport and within easy walking distance of the town centre. Its clean and functional with a casual relaxed atmosphere and a friendly efficient staff who all work hard to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. I`d go back in a heartbeat.
Adrienne was fantastic. The people at the hostel and the locals were so much fun. The place was clean and quiet. The hostel is close to town, too.
In general I haven't objections to this hostel (or rather a village for low-budget tourists). There are a dozen or so small cottages for 3 or more persons. I was afraid of insects but they were not there, with the exception mosquitoes. Adrienne - reception manager - is very nice and helpful for guests. The only one thing I can complain of is access to Internet. I had a lot of problems with the connection, furthermore and it is also quite expensive (for 200 MB of memory I had to pay 30NZ$).
