I had a great time at Toco Hostel, the bar at the common area provides the oportunity to meet people. Hosting the potato party was a fantastic idea and I could talk to several people at the occasion. About the hostel itself, it is an amazing house with bautiful garden in a great location, so no complains. My only sugestion is that the ladies room should have some curtains at the bunk beds.

A very nice traditional japanese house built with a beautiful garden and wooden interior design. Japanese staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is convenient, just few minutes walk from the metro station. Each bed has two sockets so it is very good to get full battery of your digital camera and cellphone every night. The only thing is there are only two shower rooms so we had to queue up to take showers. Overall it is a great place to stay, definitely a choice to stay again!

Toco is definitely the place to stay in Tokyo !! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you feel at home there ! Located at 2 minute walk from Iriya subway station (or 15 from Ueno), it easy to go everywere in Tokyo from there :o) The bar is great too (and even give a free drink each night) and there you can try sake (日本酒) or Umeshu (梅酒) ^^ The building is oldstyle and was entirely renovated by the staff. And the garden is just beautiful...

The hostel has a very unique feel to it, being an old house in the middle of the bustling Tokyo. It is very charming but to be able to appreciate it fully I think one must stay more than one night. During my stay it was quite chilly in the house without heating system; however, the double blankets helped a lot and I slept soundly through the night. The 8-bed dorm room was quite small but it was okay. The location was quite central, especially great for exploring Akihabara and Ueno.

Amazing hostel in the style of an old japanese house with a lovely japanese garden and it's own small bar. Best place to stay in Tokyo.

Well preserved old house made of wood with beautiful garden. Staying here, guests have to understand that due to the fact that it is old, it may lack practicality such as heat/noise insulation. This house is unique in it's own way. I recommend everyone to stay here at least once in their life.

Lovely atmosphere and really great staff. The location is close to akihabara but is only accessible via the metro on the hibiya line. Felt really authentic and beautiful garden. Would definitely stay there again. Breakfast option is really good. Showers sometimes have a bit of a queue as there is only two.

We were shocked that the 3 bed private room had 3 sets of sliding doors without any locks. It was hard to ensure the safety of our valuables. Probably lockers could be provided as an alternative in the rooms with no locks.

We stayed there for 7 nights and it was great. One of the best places we have stayed so far. The staff was very cheerful and smiling all the time. The only thing we missed is paying by cards. Despite that we had great time there and in Tokyo.

Lovely place built in traditional Japanese style. Extremely friendly staff that gave me a very warm welcome. Nice Japanese breakfast. The other guests were mostly Japanese, and a few Koreans and Chinese. The bar gives you a good opportunity to get to know them, as well as the occasional activities (e. g. international lunch). Actually, this place was so enjoyable and cosy that I preferred to spent more time there instead of in the actual Tokyo.

Warm and soft bed, hot shower and a hearty breakfast - all you need in wintery Tokyo. Also it`s very central (within walking distance from the Yamanote train line) which saves you a lot of money when you get around Tokyo. I can only recommend this place!

The girls that work here were absolutely wonderful, especially mana/manna the new girl. They were all just really cute, funny and welcoming (my favourite even came out in the street and waved us goodbye). The hostel itself was a little wooden oasis. Kitchen was gorgeous and great for meeting people. We didn't really go into the bar bit but seemed cosy. The bed was super warm and comfy but room was smallest I've encountered in a hostel (double) as I couldn't even stand up in it!
