It was a good place to stay, no complaints. Staff was very helpful. I stayed one night, wish I could have stayed longer but it was full the next night. What I appreciated the most was being able to rent a bike right from the hostel and explore the area. I stayed at 3 hostels in Tokyo and this was my favorite. It also had more character than the other two.

The hostel was great! Everything is clean and tidy and full of Japanese culture! Great to have stayed there and though I agree that the showering time and everything should be stopped after 12am, I guess this-the curfew time, and policies should be mentioned on the hostel's website and hostelworld information, so as to make everyone clear about this hostel character.

I had a great time at Toco Hostel, the bar at the common area provides the oportunity to meet people. Hosting the potato party was a fantastic idea and I could talk to several people at the occasion. About the hostel itself, it is an amazing house with bautiful garden in a great location, so no complains. My only sugestion is that the ladies room should have some curtains at the bunk beds.

This is my favorite place to stay in Tokyo. Excellent atmosphere and superb staff. It just feels comfortable here. Like home. Every time I stay here, I don't ever want to leave. I'll be back, and I know I will always be welcomed here at toco.

A very nice traditional japanese house built with a beautiful garden and wooden interior design. Japanese staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is convenient, just few minutes walk from the metro station. Each bed has two sockets so it is very good to get full battery of your digital camera and cellphone every night. The only thing is there are only two shower rooms so we had to queue up to take showers. Overall it is a great place to stay, definitely a choice to stay again!

Toco is definitely the place to stay in Tokyo !! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you feel at home there ! Located at 2 minute walk from Iriya subway station (or 15 from Ueno), it easy to go everywere in Tokyo from there :o) The bar is great too (and even give a free drink each night) and there you can try sake (日本酒) or Umeshu (梅酒) ^^ The building is oldstyle and was entirely renovated by the staff. And the garden is just beautiful...

The hostel has a very unique feel to it, being an old house in the middle of the bustling Tokyo. It is very charming but to be able to appreciate it fully I think one must stay more than one night. During my stay it was quite chilly in the house without heating system; however, the double blankets helped a lot and I slept soundly through the night. The 8-bed dorm room was quite small but it was okay. The location was quite central, especially great for exploring Akihabara and Ueno.

A hostel in a traditional house with very friendly staff that makes you feel like a family. Japanese stay there as well which makes stays more culturally enriching. Beware of a drink special made with 200 proof alcohol. It is lethal (in a good way) like in Hitchhiker's Guide ti the Galaxy. Locals often stop by for a drink at the hostel bar. So it feels like a izakaya. A double bonus.

Amazing hostel in the style of an old japanese house with a lovely japanese garden and it's own small bar. Best place to stay in Tokyo.

Well preserved old house made of wood with beautiful garden. Staying here, guests have to understand that due to the fact that it is old, it may lack practicality such as heat/noise insulation. This house is unique in it's own way. I recommend everyone to stay here at least once in their life.
