Tom is extremely kind and welcoming, and there are lovely dogs available to pet. However, the two bed private room is so small you can not move around in it and there are several additional undisclosed costs. You have to pay to take a shower, which is time limited to ten minutes and you pay for a towel. Breakfast is not included, and you can buy it for about five euro- but it's just cereal and toast. Overall, clean and friendly- but not what I expected.

Hi, thank you for your review and we are always happy to have feedback from our guests. Just a few points to clarify any misunderstandings. The room you booked was a budget 2-bed room. Shower tokens are €0.50 and provide access to hot water 24h/7. Hostelers normally bring their own towels. The cost is charged in accordance with our environmental policy. Please note that breakfast includes porridge/cornflakes, toast, butter, jam, orange juice, tea/coffee. You might not have been aware of this because you did not order breakfast.

Great place and the most helpful and knowledgeable host (Tom) you could ever wish for. I would stay here again without a doubt.

Tom's truly provides an atmosphere of a Home away from home unlike most other commercialized hostels. The best part is Tom and his family's hospitality and warmth which permeates through the entire stay. The quiet and serene environs in which it is located also provides a change from the usual ruckus that is associated with more urban hostels.

Only one toilet and one shower for all bedrooms. Be prepared to take your own toilet paper and soap (I learnt the hard way). Staff feel comfortable moving guest belongings without their knowledge. Witnessing the owner's daughter unnecessarily thrashing their dog with a stick was definitely a low point.

Thank you for your review. We are always happy to have feedback from our guests. As regards the points you have made, we don’t feel that they give a true & fair picture of our hostel because: there are other bathrooms in the hostel that you might not have seen (you only stayed for one night) and there is always plenty of handwash soap (blue liquid in mirror cabinet above sink), toilet paper (spare roles on window sill behind toilet), and even different shampoos in the bathroom. We never move belongings of guests without their consent and the bags we transferred when you stayed belonged to guests who had given us permission to do this transfer. Your description of our large adult dog being hurt by our small 5 year old child is not correct. Our daughter was playing in the garden with the dog which she loves and she would never hurt him.

We had a great stay at Tom's hostel probably our best hostel in Ireland until now. Tom is amazing and give very good advices about traveling in Ireland. The hostel is like a house where you can feel at home and share with others. Wednesday is pub day ! You should go with Tom and enjoy a real Irish night with music and beer.

Great small country hostel, my trip to Ireland would not have felt complete without a stay in such a place.
