It was a nice place to stay, nothing too flash at a good price, really close to the station. 4pm check in was quite inconvenient, though.

All in all quite nice. Toilets were clean, rooms as well, we didn"t try the showers. Not much atmosphere, but surely ok.

100%, no more words necessary. It is a real good place, definitely my choice next time again.

I wouldn't advice anybody to come here... there are much better places in Kyoto for the same price. a place to pick only if everything else is full.. as a last option or if you really want to be close to the train station (without the noise). the staff is nice. but the place is really not nice : bad bed (I am not sure I can call the thing I slept on a matress nor a futon). the rooms are small and not welcoming. It is not clean (on a japanese standart)

Tomato is a great place to spend little money. Loundry cost only 100 yen. The staff and people there were nice. It was just around the corner of Kyoto station and there were many supermarkets. Cleanliness was ok, they offer a women bathroom if you are uncomfortable unsing the shared bathroom and they offer separate dorms. One negative part was the check in time. It was after 4pm. The doors were locked before that time. If you arrive early, try to find a locker at kyoto station and go shopping.

It was fine. The downstairs toilet smelt a bit funny. However the staff were more than friendly. All the best.

Great location, but is no more than a roof over your head.

Our biggest complaint is that there were only two showers for the entire hostel, which consisting of at least 25 multi-person rooms. Moreover, the showers and the toilets were not consistently kept clean. For the latter, it seemed like the extent of their cleaning would be to hose the bathrooms down without using any cleaning product or mopping the excess scum water. They regularly smelled like urine.

my room didn't have a window and it smelled really bad, not as bad as the toilet anyway, and I had to sleep just under the air conditioning!! I will never go back to that place

the staff was nice and helpful! but the washing facilities are quite a disaster! the shower was small and without any fresh air plus very very humid. hence there were quite a lot of mosquitos in there. the man`s toilet was not very clean either, it even was quite smelly. the room itself was alright, though one sheet is not really enough, maybe u have to ask for another one or use ur own sleeping bags. it was quiet though and the location is very good, too!
