I had a great time at tone on lex, the place was very clean and the staff was really nice. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is only bread, tea and coffee but it is always fresh and the kitchen is always clean. The only complain is that I had to wait until 9am to have breakfast and I wake up earlier. Also, the coffee was excellent but only available during breakfast and not 24 hs. I would come back again to stay there!!! You don´t need more in New York!!!

It's definitely a good place to stay in! The staff is friendly and respond to your questions. One thing to improve is to make sure there's no bed bugs. Besides that, everything is great for the price you pay, will definitely come back!

Good location. A decent but basic hostel. Just to stay for couple of nights.

It was a nice stay and a good location. I think the fees for sleeping in a wrong bed is part of their security system which is kind of new to me and different to other hostels I've seen so far. But I do think its a good way. Now the breakfast could really be a lot more than just tea, coffee and toast. I've been to hostels in Miami, San Francisco and L.A. which all where at good locations and had a price just like this hostel, but offered a lot more than that and simply longer. (7 am till 11 am)

Friendly staff in a cramped ancient building. I won't recommend for a long term stay but it is agreat location for the price.

Cheap yet secure and adequate accommodation. Dorms are definitely crammed with lot of beds and gets a bit stuffy at night.

Dear hostel---please install some hooks in the bathroom so that I can hang up a towel/toiletries while I get ready in the morning. Please provide an upper sheet AND blanket on the beds. Please have a slightly longer breakfast with at least some muffins or something instead of only white bread. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop slowly increasing your rates or I will stay somewhere else from here on!

the hostel was decent but my room was extremely small for 4 bunkbeds to be cramped in one room. But however the prices were really cheap so it was worth it. The free breakfast and the location of the hostel was worth all of it.

Being the first time at this hostel i was not sure what to expect, though I all in all I was very pleased and would go back. Bunk beds, down the hall shower and bathroom faciltiies but everything worked, staff very helpful and pleasant. Refrigerator for your own food that you can cook or share - up to you. Rooms clean, bunk beds, spartian but all I needed for 6 ngihts .

It's my second time in NYC... and also my second time at Tone on Lex Hostel. The room is a bit messy, but is not hostel's falt. One more time I had a good time at hostel and I recomend it for the people who wants to stay in NYC for a reasonable price, and with good location (not super close to city center, but the metro is just 2 short blocks away!!!)

Tiny old rooms, not very clean and no mirrors in the toilets nor a place to hang your towel in the shower. Facilities are really poor, but the location is good and the people are great.

Dirty, old, tiny. You would be surprized how the bathroom can look like. SO tiny you cannot move, no mirrors, no sinks, so you always have to wash your hands, teeth in the 8 people room, because that's where the sink is located. Not to mention both showers and toilets were always moist. Room was really tiny, but it's typical for NYC hostels. If you decide to stay anyway bring really thick locks, because otherwise you just need to pull the door to open the locker (wierd locking system)

Nice hostel in a nice and save neighbourhood in Manhatten, close to public transport, shops and bars. Old but clean rooms. Staff was not very friendly - but all in all a cheap place to stay in NY !!

---RECOMMENDED---!!! Nice clean hostel in attractive quiet location with good accessibility to subway. The stuff is absolutely great and this way I'm sending them my greetings if they're reading this. Have had a good time and will definitely return when staying in NYC again!

Cheap hostel for New York, pay for what you get though. To many beds crammed into 1 room and I was in a 10 bed dorm that only had 8 lockers. Staff are really nice!
