Tone on Lex Reviews

My Partner and I have been to loads of hostels all over the continent/world. The staff and location at Tone on Lex was fantastic though we found the security quite lacking. They advertise lockers though there were only 8 for our 10 bed dorm and we were left without. That said the price was right and nothing went awry, so if you're on a budget and can handle the warmish/cold showers this place may be for you. 7/10 overall

Considering that you cannot check-in until 3pm it would be great if the Hostel had somewhere to leave any valuables (eg. passport) with them so that you did not need to carry them with you for the day if you arrive early. The luggage room was non-existent as everyone just leaves their bags in the hall. Also free breakfast should consist of more than 2 loaves as they were eaten very quickly and anyone who did not get there early missed out.

Rude staff.

The location is good, the area is safe and close to the tube. Bathrooms could be cleaner.

The staff were VERY rude. Stay somewhere else if you can as this place isn't a good choice and not worth the price you pay.

Hostelworld.com said i would get a 2 bed ensuite, instead i got a 1 bed room where the shower did not work and when we tried to turn it on it got our bed wet. We were still charged for 2 beds. We had to use the shared shower which was very unhygenic. The free breakfast that was offered consisted of 1 piece of bread.

Really poor hostel even to the quite low NYC standard. Clean enough and the location is ok (metro around the corner). The staff is rude and bored, not willing to help out at all. Poor breakfast (served between 9-10). No outlets (electricity) in the room, no sink in the toilet and the expensive internet was down most of the time. Worst of all? It´s really expensive! You can stay a lot cheaper in a good hostel in Chelsea or some other nice area. We did! It´s just a bit to basic for that price..

You are limited to two slices of cheap white bread, with peanut butter. That is not a breakfast.

The location was alright but it was a good 20min ride to main attraction, it was close to the subway though. The room was really tiny, I had a four bed room, luckily there was only three of us because there wouldn't had been enough room for four. The bathroom was always really wet on the floor and only 1 toilet and shower for an entire floor which wasn't enough. When I arrived I needed to use the toilet and there was no toilet paper. The price was good for NY though, probably stay here again.
